A TNG Animated Series?

No one said you had to like it because you are a Star Trek fan.

This is correct.

My point was, and is, if in 2020 the network executives said, "We think Star Trek fans in aggregate would enjoy a show like Lower Decks," then they were absolutely correct. It's an objective fact. Pretending that they made the wrong decision, because it's supposedly juvenile, has crass humor, or whatever, is, well, just pretending.

This is incorrect. LDS is not indicative of what the majority of Trek fans want. If anything, it's what 1/5 of Trek fans want, because the whole idea of making five different shows at once was to cater to specific fans' perceived wants. And just because a show has some accolades means nothing if the concept of the show isn't what 4/5 of Trek fans in general want to see.

Now, can one be a fan of PIC and also be a fan of LDS, or ended up liking LDS more as it went along despite not initially wanting that show idea? Sure. But I'm not kidding myself into thinking that a show like LDS was what fans were clamoring for before they came up with the concept.

So, what you're saying is that the powers that be decided to make five shows, each of which they knew 80% of the fan base would dislike??!

:wtf::cardie::eek::lol::guffaw::rofl:

That's ludicrous, utterly ridiculous.

No, that's not what I am saying. I am saying that they were trying to cater to different demographics. Not that they actively produced a show that they knew people would hate.

You're the one who equated how many have enjoyed a show with how many wanted it. Given that you made those equivalent, by responding to my statement about what fans would enjoy in aggregate with a claim that it was incorrect due to a second claim how many actually wanted it, it's literally exactly what you said.

I said that CBS/Paramount seems to think that all Trek fans want lots of humor. And they are wrong.

I'm sure they never thought that literally all Trek fans want lots of humor. I expect they understand that with quite a few Trek fans humor is a difficult concept, because it is not logical.

I don't think there's been an overwhelming need for a TNG animated series. With 7 seasons of that show, 3 of Picard, & 4 movies, it's already the most proliferative show in the franchise (for good reason)

However, if one of was done well, I'd likely watch it. By "done well", I mean I'd prefer it like the TNG show, not reworked into a comedy or otherwise made vastly different.

I could accept that if iot was high-class animation with characters realy looking like living beings and not just cartoons.

Imagine what possibilities it would make!

Characters whose actors had died or retired could be brought back "in action again".

What kind of animation are you talking about? Can you give an existing animated movie or show as an example?
Are we talking Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame type realism when several of the main characters (Esmeralda, Phoebus, Frollo) had more realistic proportions to their faces?

It might work.

I don't know if such a need exists though.

There is always anime. The Japanese have shown time and time again that they are fully capable of making Space Drama, (although most of them revolving around war like Gundam, Crest/Banner of the Stars, Starship Operators)

No, those look too cartoonish.

No, even that Hunchback Of Notre Dame looks too cartoonish.

I'm thinking about some of those AI generated pictures who show up here and there who looks very real. Something like that.

I wish Picard had never been made. It has essentially ruined TNG for me. When I watch now, all I see is the idiocy of Robot Picard.

I am definitely glad that I only made it 5 episodes (?) into season 1, and maybe 3 episodes into season 2.

i am completely fine with Season 3 as a standalone.

If you want a realistic "cartoon", I think GITS art style would suit Star Trek. Although I think a slightly more cutesy art style would be better for TNG, GITS is more for DS9

No thanks. As much as I love TNG, I find that idea just as unappealing as the idea of (another) animated show based on TOS.
I also feel the TNG crew isn't all that visually interesting for an animated series, and having it take place in "Year 8" would pretty much prevent the introduction of new main characters.

I desperately hope we get another TOS animated series before Shatner is gone.

No, I want them to look much more real than this.
No Manga characters.
