"A Time To ..." series quick question

Seems to be long series, do you have to read them in order? I read that the last 3 are really good, can they be read stand alone or should the entire series be read?

Thanks

PS - just about finished with Q-Squared so....

You can start at any odd-numbered book in the series and still understand everything. If you're going to read all of them anyway, then I recommend going in order. You can easily read just the last three if that's what you desire.

I only read the last three, and had no trouble jumping into them.

It's a nine-book series, and each pair of books builds on what went before, and KRAD's entry wraps it all up.

My recommendation? Make the effort of reading all nine books in publication order. It will enrich your reading experience. (And the authors who created it.)

It's actually set up as duologies, up until the last one, and each of the first books does I pretty good job recapping, so you could probably start at any of the first books. It is one big story though, so if you get the chance you might want to read all of them. When I read them I skipped over the first two and understood the rest fine.

Well I plan on ordering them, all, and adding them onto the stack. Ordered a couple of these plus first Titan tonight. Amazon has a buy 3 get the 4th free promotion going on so not a bad deal. Most likely will be months or longer before I get to them or at least all of them. I appreciate the feedback.

I started from the beginning...though not absolutely necessary, it makes the whole series work better as one big tale if you have every piece of the puzzle. However, IMO the first two are substantially weaker than the rest in terms of characterization and plot. David Mack's duology is definitely the strongest of the bunch, followed by KRAD's conclusion.
