a spy in your family

I'm not so sure about that, RJD. A close family member could easily tell if a dog or cat is behaving differently to how it usually behaves (yes, it's a fairly non-new sci-fi cliché) so the alien could be exposed that way. Unless the alien disguised itself as a goldfish...

This hypothetical reminds me of the episode of The Simpsons where Homer is replaced by a doppelganger with a German accent.
Bart: There's something different about you, dad.
Homer with thick German accent: I am a new tie wearing.
Bart: Oh yeah.

True, but it would still be far easier to pass as a pet than as human member of the family. The alien could also hedge its bets by showing up at the house appearing to be injured from a fight or something to distract attention and explain any difference in behavioral nuances.

Well thank you so much. Now i'm gonna be keeping an eye on my cats.

Cats are always evil.

Me, I'm going to imagine my dog with a new personality and start to act like Gromit from now on...

My initial thought is a young child. Probably younger the better, but not so young as to be helpless, so they can walk around, eavesdrop and so on. There's also an extra emotional impact when the truth is found out.

Which in a way reminds me of Scottish mythology in which fairies or elves would spirit away a young child and replace it with one of their own that looks like the original. If you can find some of those stories online, you'll see what I mean.

if a ailan kidnap and replace family member, i would know. not 1 of them could most fool me the least. i notice everything that is wrong different if see. excpt maybe my supervisor at soul destruction office. i already think she is mostly likely either space person or mechanical thing, so notice not easy. thank you also for time keeping good bye to self also.

I'm getting tired of that bunny. He needs to start doing something else.

Or the alien could show up as a writer for Torchwood. Then no one would notice it.

:p

Either that was totally random or I've inadvertently duplicated a Torchwood plotline.... :rommie:

To tell you the truth, I was inspired by the Brain From Planet Arous DVD I got for Christmas.

Oh, okay. I watched Torchwood for a bit on BBC America, but I tired of it quickly, unfortunately.

for fun! if a ailan kidnap and take a love 1 place! what be the best rode it could be with out any 1 knowing wife! husbend? i think it be a teenager boy or girl it hand to tell the humen 1 apart hehe what you people think? thank for your time bye

Yes, definitely a teenager, and an EMO teenager at that. They all try so hard to be "different" and yet they all look exactly the bloody same

Amazing how many people join groups to be nonconformist. Not quite getting the concept. :D

I don't think I will ever tire of Torchwood but that is only cause I lust over Captain Jack.

I like that character (and a couple of the others, too), but the show just couldn't hold my interest.
