A small gesture that can make your day.

So there was some kind of silly golf thing at my club this evening and Boss decided to go out on an exotic limb and serve Moussaka  instead of the normal food ~ curry, chilli, lasagne.

I can rustle one up and duely did so for 16 people.
The guys in the pro shop shook their heads and said 'Aubergine? No-one will eat that!'

Got a text from Boss tonight saying the Moussaka was amazing and everyone loved it!

It's not that they loved the food ~ it's that she bothered to text me to tell me.

It's small gestures like that really make me happy.

Think ~ what little gesture/comment has made you feel good recently?

Or ~ what have you done to make someone else happy?

I saw a neighbour and her son at the supermarket the other day, knowing they didn't have a car I gave them a lift home, saving a 20 mins walk with shopping ~ no biggie, but it made me feel good and in the incredibly warm weather we are enjoying at the moment, they were grateful.

Spread the warm fuzzy feelings :)

Have a co-worker that has no car..he walks about 4 miles to work each day..I give him rides home nearly every day....

I'm doubtful that he'll be able to afford a car soon..so I give the rides at no cost...

I actually decided a bit back that if I see something that I can help with and have the time, which I do most of the time, I will help. Makes for good karma, makes people happy and it makes me happy. Also been sort of able to make a job out of it thanks to my dad :)

'Tis a good thing you do! Rack up that Karma ~ it will be returned to you :)

My teenaged daughter told me that she gave up her seat on the bus for an elderly woman the other day and the woman was incredibly grateful, stating how so few young people were so kind and had such good manners. My daughter thought it was no biggie and that the woman's reaction was over the top, but I'm proud of her and told her to accept any compliment that came her way. And I take it as a compliment that my daughter did what she did. :)

I think foe me is at work when a member of paying public visting my work say to me" thank you, youre doing a great job."
makes me feel more appreciated and works not so crappy.

got a surprised look and a thank you when i was in london and gave me seat up for an old woman she thanked me quite a few times.
got me thinking is chivalry really dead?.

occasionally i'll help my other half's mother with her garden well i'll dump the bags of rubbish for her, she's quite surprised as we don't always get on.

I routinely helped the 1Ls at my law school for the past 4 years, giving tips to a group on Saturdays and individually when asked. I'm always told thank you and asked how they can repay me. I tell them to pay it forward. Help a 1L--or mentor one, even--after they themselves pass first year.

They almost never even promise to try to do that, and not one really has, to my knowledge. It's always disappointing to me.

But now ... two girls who just passed their first year emailed me to thank me for my help and that they hope to help scared 1Ls, just as I helped them! They said it was important to them to "pay it forward."

Finally! THAT made my day and week.

Any time a student thanks me at the end of term.
Two or three genuine thank yous this past semester nearly made me cry.

Every time I go somewhere, people always hold doors open for me because of my wheelchair. It would be a stretch to say that it "makes my day", and it's uneccesary since I can get around quite well on my own, but the kindness of the gesture is always apprieciated.
