A Singular Destiny backcover text!!!

JD

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
A couple minutes ago, I decided to see if S&S had anything on A Singular Destiny, and I found this :

The Shape of Things to Come
The cataclysmic events of Star Trek: Destiny have devastated known space. Worlds have fallen. Lives have been destroyed. And in the uneasy weeks that follow, the survivors of the holocaust continue to be tested to the limits of their endurance.
But strange and mysterious occurrences are destabilizing the galaxy's battle-weary Allies even further. In the Federation, efforts to replenish diminished resources and give succor to millions of evacuees are thwarted at every turn. On the borders of the battered Klingon Empire, the devious Kinshaya sense weakness -- and opportunity. In Romulan space, the already-fractured empire is dangerously close to civil war.
As events undermining the quadrant's attempts to heal itself become increasingly widespread, one man begins to understand what is truly unfolding. Sonek Pran -- teacher, diplomat, and sometime adviser to the Federation President -- perceives a pattern in the seeming randomness. And as each new piece of evidence falls into place, a disturbing picture encompassing half the galaxy begins to take shape...revealing a challenge to the Federation and its allies utterly unlike anything they have faced before.
This sounds awsome, I can't wait!:bolian:

Can't wait either. This should be a good series as well.

Y'know, this copy was posted on ComicMix ages ago, and I kept waiting for someone to notice.

And yes, that is the really-o truly-o back cover copy.

Awesome! I have been waiting for a follow up to Articles forever. And following up on the amazing stuff in Destiny I think it will definitely be work the wait.

^ It isn't really a "follow up" to Articles as such, though many characters from that novel do appear in the book. But there's a whole heckuva lot more to the novel than that. :)

That looks phenomenal! Could this herald the possibility of exploring Sonek's past or future adventures?

Would you be willing to tell us what species he is, KRAD? His names doesn't sound human, but it doesn't really bring one specific species to mind.

I think in one of the other threads someone mentioned it sounding like a Vulcan/Bajoran hybrid and KRAD responded something like "he he he" or an equally suggestive non-answer.

To me, the Sonek definitely sounds Vulcan, not sure about Pran

I don't know, Sonek Pran sounds Vulcan/Andorian to me. Which would be very interesting in terms of their cultural (and highly antagonistic) history.

It's not really a big secret, I just like being mysterious to mess with people.

Oh, you wanted an answer?

Sonek is what used be called a quadroon: he's a quarter human, a quarter Vulcan, a quarter Betazoid, and a quarter Bajoran.

Here's a description of him from Captain Dax's point of view when he first beams onto the Aventine:

Seconds later, a sparkle of lights coalesced into a humanoid form. A large canvas bag was slung over his left shoulder. He had a drooping white mustache and long white hair, framing a round, pleasant face. He wore simple civilian clothing: a purple shirt, black vest, black pants, brown boots. The rather unruly head of hair was yoked back into a ponytail, revealing tapered ears that suggested Vulcanoid ancestry. He also had the rhinal ridges of a Bajoran, albeit fainter than usual, and the black eyes of a Betazoid. That's gotta be an entertaining family tree, Dax thought as she stepped forward

"Professor Pran, I presume?"

The grin he let loose with was completely human. In all three hundred and sixty-three years of life in nine hosts, the Dax symbiont had never encountered a species that grinned quite the way humans did.
