A question for those who have seen it (No spoilers!)

For those who have seen it (please answer WITH NO SPOILERS): How "science-fiction'y is it ? I'm fine with a Star Wars-esque action movei but the producers said they were inspired by Prime Directive- is there any real big sci-fi payoff like the end of that novel or 2001 or Federation or something generally like, 'Wow, that was good sci-fi' in term of big ideas, big concepts? Hopefully that makes sense. Like intelligent solar systems. Big ideas. Arthur Clarkean.
