A question about Spock in Into Darkness. [SPOILERS]

About the scene where young Spock talks to old Spock on the bridge, when young Spock says, "How?" when responding to old Spock's, "We beat Khan, but at great cost" line, the scene then ends. Are they suggesting that old Spock did indeed tell young Spock that he died defeating Khan?

I'm wondering if Spock Prime told NuSpock that what Khan wanted, Genesis, ended up being what killed him. I could see that sparking the idea for Spock to use what NuKhan wanted, his people returned to him, as something to use against him.
