Spoilers A possible return in the Picard Show

Frakes is just confirming what we've already suspected. Unless Picard gets sent off to the Kelvin timeline (something I hope doesn't happen), then I think we can expect to see most if not all of the TNG cast at some point. It also sounds like an opportunity to bring back Sela.

Dear God, I hope not.

^ Yeah, a lot of people feel that way but I wouldn't mind seeing her again.
Sure. But I meant all of it. I have very little interest in seeing the TNG gang at all. My interest in this show is inversely proportional to the number of TNG characters it contains. Fewer equals better.

I'm the opposite. While I hope that the show can stand on its own with a new cast, I do want to see what's become of the old crew. I also wouldn't mind seeing Wesley and a few guests from the other shows. Janeway is someone else I expect to see. It could be argued that the show would feel too crowded with throwbacks to the old days but they were his crewmates and friends, so it could work.

The show does NOT take place in the Kelvin timeline! It has clearly been stated that it is Prime. It would make no sense to bring back a character we don't know at all. I don't understand why anyone thinks it will be anything other than the Jean Luc Picard.

I was thinking maybe get 2 or 3 24th-century characters (doesn't have to be TNG) to be semi-regulars on the series, and perhaps a few others appearing on rare occasions. What I don't want is to see a parade of previously known characters on an almost weekly basis.

The only thing we know is the latter. It is Picard from TNG 20 years or so after NEM. We know it takes place after the events in the Prime Universe that cause the Kelvin timeline and that this was a major event in his life.

We do not know that Picard didn't follow Spock and Nero and end up 100 years in the Kelvin timeline's future. I don't want this, but it is possible given the scant details that we have.

One of the great things in Frakes's little tease was this:

Patrick isn’t playing Capt. Jean-Luc Picard this time, he’s done with [that phase of his career in] Starfleet in this show. That’s about the only thing I do know about the show.

I'm glad that they were all smart enough to take this into a completely different direction, and not have a "TNG Reunion" or Yet Another Spaceship Series (YASS).

Sounds like we're getting something very different in terms of both structure and character, which will keep my interest.

One of my big hopes for the Picard show is seeing old familiar faces, but Riker is not at the top of my list. How about Worf, Garak, Janeway or Kira?

Pretty sure they said at the announcement in Vegas that it was prime universe.

The Kelvin Timeline's done. Definitely on TV. Probably in the movies too. I have a hard time believing there won't be another Star Trek movie ever, but they'll probably just reboot it again.
