A pointless product?

What do you think of home "touchless" hand soap dispesers?

They put these up at work and half the time they don't work so you end up banging on it trying to get soap out thus "touching" it.

I have finally seen something more stupid than the Fushigi gravity ball toy that I see advertised all the time on TV.

But Picard used a motion-sensing bathroom device in First Contact, so I must purchase one. :(

ut whats the next thing you're going to do after dispensing liquid soap on your hands?

Public Toilets are even worse. I wash my hands, but whats the next thing I need to do - touch the door handle to leave. Knowing that other users haven't washed their hands

I often grasp the doorknob with the paper towels, then toss them in the nearby trashcan on my way out.

I surprised that so many of you can use paper towels. It is getting quite rare to find paper towels in toilets here. one is expected to dry one's hand using the hand dryer.

Or do you guys carry paper towels in your handbag or in your pockets?

Some public restrooms in the U.S. have hot-air hand dryers, but many still have paper towel dispensers.

Anyway, this whole germ-phobia thing is ridiculous.

I was once on a ferry and had used the washroom. Their hand dryers weren't functional, and they didn't have any paper towels. Yeah, no thanks, particularly since I have a bad case of eczema and need my hands dried. It just seemed like bad hygiene to me to allow that to happen. If all one has is hand dryers, I at least expect those to work. Usually, around here if there are hand dryers, there are always also paper towels as a backup and it's pretty rare for them not to.

Locally, I have observed that many touchless dryers break, either through normal wear and tear or vandalism, and management just puts up towel dispensers next to them. 'Course, I have also observed functionless towel dispensers with newer working towel dispensers installed on the wall right next to them. 'Course, I live in a city filled with idiots.

Some of the newer restrooms here in SE Virginia USA actually have paper towel dispensers with the touchless infrared sensors. You stick your wet hands under the dispenser and the towel rolls out into a position that makes it possible to just tear it off the roll. At the local convention center soap dispensers, faucets and towel dispensers are all automatic with the towel dispensers mounted directly above the trash bin between each pair of sinks.

A lot of times I just walk away from the sink with my wet hands. With neither towel or dryer it only takes a minute or two for them to air dry.

It's a bit silly given how we're already covered in cat shit, dog shit, parasitic insect shit, germ shit, and perhaps especially our own shit, and there's really a point of diminshing returns when it comes to dealing with this multitudinous wave of shit.
