A note regarding the new Warning/Ban structure

Guys, I know that occasionally someone will post something that gets your dander up. It happens to us all.

Considering the new Warning/Ban structure that has been put into place, I'd hate to have to warn people for allowing themselves to get riled up by something.

Therefore, I'd just like to make this request for everyone here. If you get angered by something someone posts, please, just notify me. Don't try to take things into your own hands. While I appreciate the general self-policing that has been going on around here, I'd hate to see that have to come back to bite one of you guys in the end. Feel free to call someone on an intellectual argument, but if you feel yourself getting pissed off, for your own sake, just take a breath, step back, and if you're still mad, notify me, and tell me why.

I'd rather see 10 notifications in my inbox than issue 10 warnings to people who've allowed their irritation to get the better of them.

Please, don't take this as a board-wide policy statement. This is just a request from me. And, please, if you think I'm full of it on something, or if you just want clarification on something, you're more than welcome to PM me about it. I encourage it, in fact.

My inbox is always open. I'd rather hash things out via PM than see good posters get warnings for allowing a situation to get the better of them.

So, instead of help with avoiding the warnings and getting yourself kicked off the board when you've racked up too many, you'd rather accrue them, Fox Mulder? :vulcan:

Is there anyone else with this stance that I should be aware of?

I just meant that I think people whine too much :)

Then perhaps that's what you should have said to begin with.

I'll raise my hand, even if Mulder put his back down. I'm an anti-authoritarian wing-nut with a dislike for any notion that someone needs to hold my hand when someone says something to anger me.

[sniffs]

I also should use more deodorant.
