A New Stargate Series

The implications would be too far-reaching. It would kill the dynamic. If they want the franchise to survive in it's current lore (which they probably don't) then they need to make any new spin-off at least as self-contained as SGA and SGU were IMO.

A new McGuffin is brought back through the gate by a united SG/Tok'ra force and promises to upset the balance of power in the universe. As soon as it's brought in, we find it's a combination of twelve parts, each part powerful in and of itself. Combined though, it could, effectively, push a society centuries ahead of their current tech level or serve as a doomsday device capable of destroying planets.

Suddenly, Stargate Command is under attack and we find that a few of the Tok'ra have gone rogue. It turns out their hosts came from a planet that was destroyed due to collateral damage during one unseen battle involving a Stargate team. The world was totally destroyed, though the survivors were relocated and those who could be saved by joining with symbiotes were given symbiotes. Similar to Khan and his followers, the site they relocated to was destroyed, though unbeknownst to Stargate command, which, due to one crisis or another, had not had a chance to check up on them. They found a way to infiltrate the Tok'ra and

Eleven of the rogue Tok'ra manage to escape and each split up, and, with a sizable lead, manage to get far apart from the others and the SGC. With only one of the pieces, the SGC is in a race against time to locate the other pieces before enough of the device can be assembled to cause major damage.

Making matters worse, the SGC fears that the rogue Tok'ra could ally themselves with some of their enemies still active out there.

This would shift the stories back to SG-1 seasons 1-3 levels, with Earth at a disadvantage, exploring worlds, hoping to find allies, while giving it an arc different from the ones we saw in SG-1. It would also give the main "bad guys" more personality than the Wraith. It could also give us a chance to explore more than just one SG team, as we could focus on one team, but get glimpses of other teams as they hunt the other rogue Tok'ra.

While they could still use the ships, this idea would also give them a reason to use the Stargates, as they would attempt to follow the rogue Tok'ra through the gate system.

There are a lot of gates that you couldent connect to, so they could make a series that involved a starship and the crew investigating what was on these planets and what happened or there might even be some lost civilizations to discover along with new technology on the way. the main story might be a war brewing between the lusian aliance and earth, wich this exploration ship would be pulled into on different ocasions, either it ment battle or diplomatic relations with new allies. and brig in the nerdy scientist and a captain either the seriuos type or the O'neil type!

Out of all the various sci-fi series franchises, Stargate has the most potential IMHO. It's one of the few that also has a strong Earth connection relative to our time here (not too far in the future). That helps with relating to it.

I'd like to see a new version called Stargate: Terra. Basically, it's set a little bit further in the future, where the signs of our reckless industrial activities have taken its toll on the planet. I know... "Terra Nova". Well, it's a similar idea, but in a different way. Basically the planet has slipped past the point of natural recovery within a reasonable period of time (e.g. 2-3 human generations). The glaciers have melted, the ecosystems have collapsed, and life in the oceans has retreated deeper than we can reach for use as food. The Earth isn't "dead"... it has simply become uncomfortable for humans to inhabit.

Stargate command has gotten some alien assistance with regards to the matter, and it has been determined that drastic "terra forming" type work is needed to bring the planet back to its state prior to the industrial age. To do this, the human population cannot be present. And so... not only is the Stargate technology finally announced to the public, but everyone must make preparations to leave (this will take a handful of episodes). A number of habitable worlds have been chosen for people to go to. And as it so happens, world leaders manage to agree that they will go as either nations or small regional groups of nations. Various technologies will be used to keep all separated Earth nations in touch, for things like status updates, physical trade, and tourism. Of course... it would be a tricky thing to handle. How do you let everyone know what's going on without collapsing financial markets in a panic? How will financial markets exist off world? Very complicated... but I believe there's some way it can be written so that it's believable enough.

Anyway, the whole premise is that Earth will be vacated for restoration. And there will be struggles all over the place... settling uninhabited worlds or co-habitation with alien humanoid beings, terra forming struggles back on Earth, hostile aliens encroaching to take over, ancient technologies sought to deal with various issues, rogue humans escaping and leaping around Stargate sites causing havoc, some aliens that have "had enough" of human encroachment, etc...

At some point, Destiny would make a return at a critical point, and once again ancient technology will help save us. Whatever actors you could get would be the sole survivors (some systems failed and most of the crew was lost). Not only would we get some nice closure to SGU, but all the benefits accumulated from it would help save us Earthlings.

I noticed the date on the posts so I don't know if this is one of Undead posts :)
Here is my idea (assuming it hasn't been suggested ) SG1945 (or there abouts). When the gate was first used "supposedly" it was never used again. What if a power source was found for travel to other worlds was found? Perhaps a tablet in Egypt is found that gives new addresses and they go to these planets that the other show has never been to. The difference here is that the group is limited to 1940's tech.

Rogue Tok'ra would work, but there's no need to turn them into a Goa'uld redux because that's been done in spades. I'd take advantage of their potential to be far more complex villains than Stargate has ever had.

They just need a breeding Queen who is producing kids who need hosts. Like any species, they want their children to survive and for their species not to go extinct. Other than that, they could be the nicest folks in the galaxy. Wouldn't that be freaky?

Maybe the Stargate folks can come to some sort of accommodation with them. We're all reasonable people here, right? And then the whole thing becomes common knowledge, hey guess what, the government has been in cahoots with evil mind-controlling alien parasites! Your tax dollars at work. :rommie:

Or, how about this? In the future, Earth is taken over by an evil, imperialistic global government, which rediscovers the Stargate buried under Cheyenne Mountain and uses it for evil, bwhahaha!

And yet keeping the symbiotic relationship idea - just a little more twisted and a little less benevolent. If you discard the symbiosis idea completely, it would undermine the very idea of the Tok'ra, just like saying Vulcans would be more interesting if they weren't so logical. Not every Tok'ra would be a paragon of virtue, but they wouldn't all be downright body-snatchers either. They certainly wouldn't be as brutal as the Goa'uld, and they wouldn't have the godhood delusion, but they'd definitely be hypocrites. The one rule they aren't supposed to break (never force the host to do something he or she doesn't want to) would at times be horribly misapplied and other times just ignored. For example, some symbiotes could feel that the rule only applies after taking a host, so invading an unwilling host would be okay since they'd "never actually harm the host, oh no, we don't do that..." So they'd be the lesser of two evils...as a group, but some would still actually be the good guys.

Now, if you go back to what actually happened in Stargate...it would appear their only choices for the future would be to find a fertile, benevolent queen (unlikely) or start having Harcesis children. That could be interesting - technically humans, but with the genetic memory of the symbiotes and possibly other unique traits.

I like this idea quite a bit, although I've gotta point out that there would be no practical way to evacuate Earth's population solely using the Stargate. Logistical and practical considerations will keep you from moving more than a certain number of people at a time. Say 200 people an hour. If you ran the gate night and day, that's still fewer than 5000 people a day, and fewer than 2 million a year.

Still, I suppose there are ways of writing around it (or it could just be ignored for TV purposes).

Great idea! :techman:

They're doing a series about vikings? Someone get Johnny Drama's agent on the phone, it's time for him to don the giant-horn-hat once more! :bolian:
