A New Resident Evil Trilogy... and new characters...

3D so thats another thing I can't see unless I want to trek to Derby about 40 mins away :shifty: oh wait just remembered Ressie 3 sucked and infact the overall series has been underhwelming :p

Hopefully he won't be given the chance to create a new trilogy to ruin the Resident Evil name. I guess Chris Redfield will appear in the movie or planned future movies as will Wesker. Wheres the love for Leon, Mr Anderson

^ I think the decision to kill him off wasn't entirely PWSA's. I think Sony wanted him out of the film because of Resident Evil 4.

Resident Evil 4 was a gamecube exclusive at the time though

Given one of Resident Evil's main distributors was Sony Pictures, i can see them demanding the death of the then Nintendo exclusive Leon character in the second film- elements of cutting off their nose to spite their face.

Of course, that didnt really work at all, since the second film was regarded as rubbish so disassociating Leon from the film series probably helped the sales of RE4 rather than hinder them.

Also, Leon's written in RE4, the books and the animated movie Degeneration as pretty much an asshole. Well, he was ok in RE4, but an asshole in Degeneration. Chris Redfield is portrayed as your typical big damn hero in all of his appearances, so I'm hoping he does show up in the new trilogy and kicks major ass.

Hopefully commenting on Claire's voyage to Alaska.

But I didn't bump this old thread for nothing, while IMDB's page for the next movie is filled with fanwank casting crap, so far none of it confirmed, there are a lot of rumors of Sienna Guillory reprising her role as smoking hot and kick ass Jill Valentine!

Yes, I fully admit that these movies aren't cinematic masterpieces and don't do the incredible games series they're (semi) inspired by justice, to me, they're still mindless fun and I get a kick out of them.

^ If they would happen to bring back Jill I hope that they would somehow keep what KRAD suggested she was up to in the novelization of Extinction. For those who don't know Jill was captured by the United States Government not long after the destruction of Raccoon City. She was presenting her case to the Secret Service that Umbrella had been behind the disaster when the T-Virus started to spread into the nearby community. She was in Baltimore where she set up a secured base in a stadium for survivors.

I wonder how long it'll be until the rumored casting of Jensen Ackles as Leon appears on the internet again.

C'mon, the plot of the movies is easily comparable to the games. You watch the movie for the fun and you play the game for the same. This whole "The RE Movies RAPED the Games!!!" is BS because the one part they could actually share and compare with, the story, is ridiculous in both mediums. You can't say that RE games are known for their wonderful acting.

Speaking of Leon in RE4 and Degeneration compaired to Chris, I always perceive Chris as an "average American male's wet dream". He is basically what most American males want to be like, strong, heroic, probably got to bang Jill at some point. Whereas Leon to me, isn't the complete oppisite, but he doesn't care if acts like an asshole if it gets the job done. So to me, Leon is the better of the two characters.

Christ, I thought I'd add in that, I was about to comment on the new film, and I actually sighed before I typed anything. That's how bad it'll be.

Plus, how the fuck is he going to create this movie based on Resident Evil 5? There's no backstory between Chris or Wesker... wait there's absolutely no back story to Chris at all. He's never even been mentioned once during the three movies!!! Ofcourse, Alice will take the role that Sheva had (either that, or both Chris and Sheva will be her sidekicks). Most of the world has been destroyed by the T-Virus, which I'm sure includes Kujiji.

He'll HAVE to make an original story. And I fucking hope he casts people THAT ACTUALLY HAVE ON-SCREEN CHEMISTRY!!!

It's not BS. The RE storyline is entertaining. The RE movie storyline is the exact opposite. There is where the difference lies

I can't believe I over looked the quoted post before, but I might as well answer.

PAUL W.S. ANDERSON CAN'T WRITE MOVIES!

He's proven it with Aliens vs Predator, he's proved it with the shitty "Resident Evil" films he's released, he proved it with "Death Race" and he's going to prove it yet again by burying the Resident Evil film franchise under the 10 tonnes of shit it's already under. The only people who actually enjoy these movies are the people who haven't played the games, or didn't really enjoy the games, or simply have no taste in movies and is probably under the impression that AVP is also a good movie.

I try not to quote a critic on a film, but one actually said that Death Race was an "assault on all the senses, including common", and that's all I can ever see when I watch a film that was wrote by him.

God fucking christ. I could write a better screenplay for a Resident Evil film than him in a week.

Huh, I guess I must of missed the memo where the RE games were considered bastions of great writing.

My bad.

I guess you did, many gamers enjoy the storyline. That's why they've continued it through 6 games. Thats also why the supposed reboot is so controversial :p

See, the same people that are crying "But it's not like the games!" are probably the same ones who whine about movies based on TV shows not being EXACTLY Like the TV show. Me, all I want to be is entertained. I enjoyed all 3 movies so far. Odds are, I'd enjoy any others they put out.

Piett, you couldn't have gotten that more wrong. I'm not bitching because they're not like the games, I wouldn't like it if it was too much like the games anyway. What I don't like is the casting is horrible, and the writing is even worse.

Ali Larter and Milla are both gormless, talentless idiots who couldn't string together a good act between them. Some of the other casting has been okay, but they're just butchering the games by keeping the same name. I would be a little happier if they called it something else instead of Resident Evil.

Personally, I think the series CAN still be salvaged, they just need to write something original and fresh (that doesn't include Milla, or at the most only has a cameo from her), a new cast, and make it in to an actual horror survival flick. Something based around Resident Evil 4/5 would be good (but NOT using the characters Leon (even though he's dead) or Chris, and leaving out Claire and possibly Jill).

I couldn't give a crap if the movies and games aren't exactly alike. The issue though is that they don't resemble each other at all. That being the case, why bother even naming it Resident Evil? But putting that aside, if the movies were good it could be forgiven. That ain't the case. Nice try though

Bad news for you: Milla has already confirmed she's beginning her shooting schedule for Resident Evil: 4 in December.

IMO, they can't not use Milla until they wrap up the ending of the third film in a 4th. THEN they could replace her. Obviously some people like the movies, some didn't. We aren't going to change each other's mind.

If they're making a 4th film, they've obviously done well enough at the box office to get a green light. I'll take a new RE film with Milla over whatever piece of crap remake Hollywood decides to churn out to make a buck any day.
