Decades ago I read an old book, probably published in the 70s or early 80s, about a young newlywed bride who is sent a hundred years or more into the past by her husband's evil aunt who is a witch.
The bride joins a coven - possibly Satanic - to learn the magic to time travel home, in exchange for promising them her first born child.
In the present (I'm not actually sure if the present was actually the 20th century or still a historical time period) the aunt uses magic to seduce her nephew and reveals that she's actually his birth mother.
By the end the couple is reunited and the aunt is defeated but escapes. The wife explains the bargain she made to return home but explains she just won't have a pregnancy and they can adopt.
It was a mad mad read what with all the witchcraft, time travel and incest. Unfortunately I lost the book decades ago and don't remember the author or title. I figured if anybody could track this down it would be somebody here. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Despite the wacky supernatural elements and exploitation style, it may have been covertly published as a romance.
There was a sequel, which wasn't as good, where the couple accidentally had a child and the aunt had kidnapped her and ran off to another city where she established herself as a widow with a baby and married into another wealthy family. The husband blamed his wife for the baby being kidnapped and they grew apart. The main action took place 15 to 20 years later with the couple fighting the aunt, finding their daughter and reconciling, but the ending was a cliffhanger with the daughter being kidnapped on board a ship (possibly pirates?)
I read these over thirty years ago and would love to read them again.
