A little Trek quiz: Match the actor with the alien!

I was inspired to do this by the discussions about the relative (un)attractiveness of various alien makeups on the 'which alien races would you go on a blind date on with' and 'most beautiful people' threads. Looking at the pics of various Trek actors in and out of makeup is certainly interesting - sometimes they're easily recognizable, but in many cases I was really surprised and could never have guessed who they played. So why not have a bit of fun and compare with and without makeup pics, and make this into a little quiz, as well? "MATCH THE ACTOR WITH THE ALIEN" (or more than one alien, in some cases) :-)

The aliens in question range from main characters to recurring, to guest stars, supporting characters in a movie. I should also mention that some of them are a bit younger in the pics than when they were in Trek.

Starting with the easiest one...

these two are easy to recognize:

4. A rare younger pic of this guy I was able to find, from an earlier role. Check out the eevil black gloves and outfit. :-p

6. Also a couple of younger pics of this actress. Not sure if I'd guess who this was... probably not.

7. Her, however, I'd recognize immediately.

2 K'Ehleyr
3 B'Elanna
4 Dukat/Macet
7 Borg queen
16 Martok

the other ones are quite difficult

#1 is Dorn of course

#6 I believe is Salome Jens/Female Founder I think.

#15 Aron Eisenberg/Nog

Just last night my mom was watching House and said of one of the doctors "that guy would make a good Ferengi" (referring to his looks).

#1 is Dorn of course
I actually put him as "0" as I figured he'd be too easy to guess as the only main cast member here. Kudos for guessing the Female Founder. :bolian: Some of the remaining ones were just in an episode or two, so they aren't that easy to remember let alone recognize. Although I thought #14 would be easy since she didn't look all that different in makeup.

When my mom first saw Armin Shimerman on Buffy, she said: "He looks the same as on Star Trek." :guffaw:

11. Dina Meyer (Commander Donatra)
12. Tracy Scoggins (More popularly known as Captain Lochley on B5)
16. J.G. Hertzler (Martok)
17. John Vickory (more popularly Neroon on B5)

Well, I did have a bit of an edge on Jens. I just happened to see her a few weeks ago on a Gunsmoke from 1971. It was one that had her and Richard Basehart. I kept thinking she looked vaguely (very vaguely) familiar. I was shocked to see it was Jens in the credits as I had no idea what she looked like without Founder makeup nor any idea as to her age.

I love watching Gunsmoke for seeing all the different guest stars who also did Star Trek. Just saw DeForest Kelley in the first season of Gunsmoke (1955) where he had longer hair and a thick beard! Man, he looked different and somewhat weird.

Yes, but what did they play on Trek? (without googling/IMDB-ing/Wikipeding/MemoryAlphing) :p

Tracy Scoggins was the Cardassian Engineer in "Destiny" that had a thing for O'Brien

John Vickory was the Catatonic survivor from the USS Brittain in "Night Terrors" then he was the Klingon Prosecutor that was out to convict Archer in Judgement.

BTW, you didn't rule out TrekCoreing!

I cannot believe Martok looks like that. The first time I saw him interviewed out of make-up, I was shocked. I think he may look less like his character out of make-up than any other heavily made-up actor on DS9. And I was sure he was black too!

5 is Andrew Robinson who played Damar.

13 is Jennifer Gatti who played Ba'el.

Damn Salome Jens was a hottie in her day!
Correct, it's Damar, but the actor's name is Casey Biggs. Andrew Robinson played Garak.

BTW do you know that Damar and B'Elanna used to be married? It's a small world! That's why she was credited as Roxann Biggs-Dawson early on in Voyager (I'm watching season 1 currently). I guess she must've had the name Roxann Biggs before that, Dawson is her second husband's name.

He was also Rusot, Damar's friend from Cardassian resistance who couldn't let go of his hatred for Bajorans and had to be shot by Damar in the end.

On that note, I have to retract my statement that Cardassian look makes everyone look more attractive. This guy didn't look that great as a Cardie, and he's far more attractive out of makeup.

I cannot believe Martok looks like that. The first time I saw him interviewed out of make-up, I was shocked. I think he may look less like his character out of make-up than any other heavily made-up actor on DS9. And I was sure he was black too!
BTW let's not forget he also played Laas.

Contrary to popular belief, it seems that the majority of Klingons were played by white actors.

I was surprised and even shocked to learn a few of the heavily made-up actors' ages, and even more so in comparison to each other. Some of them turned out to be older than I thought, and some of them younger, like Max Grodenchik (Rom) who is actually just 3 years older than Aron Eisenberg who played his son Nog!

I also have to say that heavy makeup, like Klingon or Cardassian, usually makes it impossible for me to guess if the actor is white or black, I've been surprised a few times!

I love watching Gunsmoke for seeing all the different guest stars who also did Star Trek. Just saw DeForest Kelley in the first season of Gunsmoke (1955) where he had longer hair and a thick beard! Man, he looked different and somewhat weird.
I saw Nimoy playing a Native American on YT. Who else is there out of Trek actors?

Since more than a half have been recognized, here's a few more:

these two have to be the easiest, those guys are really recognizable even without any makeup :rommie:

These people, however? Not really!

26. And this last one shocked me the most. The actress was a guest star in an episode, I looked her up out of curiosity... although I shouldn't really be shocked, there's some makeup that can just make anyone look like crap!

19 is Robert O'Reilly as Gowron, right? 20 is definitely Rom. I know 23 is Morn, but only because I remember the featurette about him from the DS9 DVDs. If not for that, I don't think anybody could ever guess...all we have to go on are his eyes! I love the make-up on Morn so much. I think he is the most alien-looking alien ever in Star Trek. Michael Westmore should have won an award just for the design. So many of the aliens just look like people with weird foreheads. I love how Morn looks so much more otherworldy, with such a different nose and mouth from a normal human.

Yep, I knew Gowron and Rom would be the easiest ones. O'Reilly's eyes are really easy to recognize. But it's funny how the Klingon makeup makes the difference between looking like an ordinary guy and a BAMF. :klingon: :rommie: Although I guess Klingon makeup makes everyone looks more badass!

OMG! What a fun thread!
I am going to try not to peek at the answers and see who i can identify--

but with your "hint" about the last one (#26), i'd have to say either Lursa or B'Etor....
