A little late for the poll, but I cooked up a couple more.

First, correcting a bit of an oversight...

Next, the one that Bjo is probably the most likely to go for, after all is said and done...

Or, we could really go retro...

I voted for number 7 cus Star Trek has been around for 40= years so to have 1 ship from just one of the series didnt seem to fit IMHO :)

Cool covers though numbers 1-6 :):techman:

The deliniation of rights, though, limits the Concordance to TOS, TAS, and those works that directly relate to them, which means the first seven movies and those episodes from the spinoff shows that crossover or connect with TOS or TAS. So, we're pretty much stuck with either dealing with the original Enterprise or the refit.

You want more complete coverage, try the Encyclopedia. Mike and Denise Okuda will thank you. ;)

I already own the 93 and 99 versions ^_^

well i still like neutrality of number 7 :D

Y'know, Number 7 is really more of a "none of the above" option, and to provide a relatively blank palette for anyone who wanted to take a crack at it themselves, not as an actual idea in and of itself.

Going with # 4. The blue does make the image "pop" as noted.

Though I like Bjo's potential choice as well. It needs a cast photo of some type unless there is the issue of expenses.

Gads, I have to vote for the "retro" version as well - Still got mine.

Now all we need is a variation on the Decoder Wheel version.

I think the odds-on favorite is an online/downloadable version, so that wheel is gonna be a tough nut to crack.

Maybe some hotshot Flash animator can come up with something...

I got another copy of the '76 version, just to get back up to speed (and you can't have too many copies of the '76 version, especially if the wheel works).

There may be some movement on this soon.

Stay tuned.

I guess a tentative remark is in order.

Thanks to being one of the few people left who still has the capability to use 3.5" discs, and being dumb enough to take on this project, I should be able to get some preliminary work on a new version shortly, just as soon as Bjo sends me the materials, and depending on the condition of that material from the last version (apparently, the discs picked up some sort of bug during the time they were in the custody of the incompetent publisher, so there might be some issues). Otherwise, we're looking at retyping in everything from scratch.

Good thing I got that '76 version in the mail the other day, since that's the direction we're looking at.

Maybe the wheel can be included as a do-it-yourself extra. If anyone happens to have a scan of a loose wheel, it'd certainly be appreciated, 'cause I really don't want to take apart mine.

This is going to be fun, regardless.

Something that occurred to me regarding this new edition, is we're gonna need some new artwork to cover all the stuff that didn't make the last version, particularly Enterprise.

I'll probably start another thread on this, but for now, consider this an official notice, we're gonna need new artwork for the Concordance! I'm not sure what the final criteria will be regarding computer generated artwork, and Bjo will have to make the really official call to arms, but for now, let's think pen & ink, photoready, conventional artwork. When and where to send the goods will come later, but I'd like to have some stuff in the pipeline, know what I'm sayin'?

Still time to vote, folks.

Also, it's been confirmed that the print rights have reverted back to Bjo, so it's entirely possible that this puppy will come back as a real life hardcopy book.

It's sort of a retro book, so it just seems fitting.

Of course, it's entirely possible that we might not be able to use any of those pics, depending on how cranky Paramount's legal weasels are feeling. I feel pretty safe about the font, but any pictures of something clearly identifiable as something from Star Trek might be actionable (have I mentioned I really don't like lawyers? It's odd, since I have some very good friends who are lawyers....).

So, this whole thing might be of no value outside of our own amusement.

Just warnin' ya, kids.

And the winner, by a two-to-one margin, the classic blue phasers pic.

Not sure how this'd work with the cover wheel idea, but ya never know...
