A little Polar Lights NCC-1701-A Help

I will begin work on my Polar Lights NCC-1701-A but I lost the two painting/color directions. I did the TMP version with the duck egg blue color it recommended but it is a little too green for the A. I read that ILM changed a lot to a light blue but the light blue I have is way too dark. Anyone have a copy of the instruction sheets and paint colors that were recomended for the A version or can someone here, who did the A, tell me which colors to use? I typically use Testors or Tetors Master.

Well I did some more tweaking of my TMP Enterprise and I'm happy with it but don't think the colors are exactly right. Now, for whatever reason, I lost both paint guides to both of my Polar Lights models. I don't know if it can be downloaded anywhere of if anyone here has tips for colors and where.

The torp tube insert should be black. The rest is hard to tell what to suggest because you're shooting it from the only angles that show the least amount of surface area. Back up and get a good profile shot. Get good top-down and bottom-up shots.

I have to repaint the torp tubes as you indicated. I just didn't get that far. It was painted before I repainted to the new color. Here are some more pics of the model:

Very good thread. I decided not to attempt the "Aztec" paneling because I don't have patience for that. I just wanted to do more of a general coloring. I was curious as to what most here did for the blue or green areas (depending on the TMP refit or the A) on the ship. As I said I misplaced both of my paint guides that came with the two models. When I do the A I may attempt the Aztec decals it came with.

So how does this reissue of the kit hold up on its single stand. I have two of the original kits that I have yet to build because I found the painting necessary for the aztek scheme to be too intimidating. I had bought one of those iron jigs to mount it with just the one support.

But if this kit is holding up I will fleabay the other two kits and buy one of the new reissues. Oh BTW, besides ordering from the site ($80.00) is there anyone selling it anywhere else for cheaper?

It is holding up nicely. It is very stable. I got mine off Amazon for about that price. It is a little cheaper now.

Thanks. I just ordered mine. Now lets see if I can get all the decals on with out the model looking like it is gilded in silver. Speaking of which, how come you didn't put all the aztecking decals on?

Two reasons. I didn't trust myself and for the scale of the model it looked a bit too busy. They are not subtle enough. Well maybe. When I do the -A version I'm going try to put them on there.

Hmmm. Im wondering if after you applied the decals if you were to lay down a light misting of gloss white with an airbrush if that would subdue the decals? Damn I wished I remembered my logon to hobby talk.

I did it years ago (on accident) with an AMT/Ertl kit. I tried my hand at the azteck pattern on my own based on a few resources (mind you this was in the AOHell days). I used duck egg blue. It didnt work out of course. So I blasted the model with white spray paint. The interesting thing is that the coats of white actually subdued the blue until it was approaching blending in nicely.
