A Lando Series Could Possibly Be On the Way From Disney+

I actually think Solo is an awesome reflection of the original Star Wars, with a bit of reverse Hero's Journey. Having a deeper villain is in line with the through line in ANH and ESB.

Maul being the "deeper" villain could work with Star Wars: Rebels. Giving a reason why Maul was stranded on the planet he was found by Ezra....cause Han (or Lando for that matter) left him there, or disabled his ship's hyperdrive so it was a one way trip.

Ehrenreich's version was exactly what he was supposed to be: a wet behind the ears kid who for all his street smarts, quick wits and ambition was sorely lacking in worldly experience. He still had the kind of naive optimism that he would later in life see reflected back at him in the for of Luke and Rey.

Great point! I liked his performance for exactly that reason.

Sometime a swear some people have never even heard of a character arc.

Bad point! Since Han actually had NO character arc in the movie and was exactly the same at the ending that he was in the beginning.

I think Qi'ra is a much more likely suspect for the person (if any) that stranded him on Malachor. Though given the presence of the Inquisitor when Ezra Kanan and Ahsoka showed up, I suspect it wasn't by direct sabotage of his ship, but her tipping the Inquisitorious off as to his whereabouts when he went there looking for Sith secrets. An Inquisitor shows up, Maul kills them but both of their ships are destroyed in the process and so he's stuck there for several years until another hunter comes sniffing at the last one's trail.

Han's arc goes from selfish; independent; not in it for the revolution, sweetheart, to General of the Republic Army and Hero at Endor.

Yes, ANH does show deep down he cares, but he kept that buried. That facade fades by Jedi and is long gone by TFA.

Even the giving of the Falcon BACK to Lando in Jedi shows growth from ANH.

I saw a lot of people calling Glover's Lando a highlight of Solo, so even if they didn't like the guy who played Han, they did like him.
Glover absolutely stole every scene he appeared in, Get him as the lead for a Lando series and I'm all for it.

Sure he had an arc. We see the start of his jaded view expressed to Luke.

No we don't. He's just as dorky and happy go lucky in the final scenes as he was in the beginning of the movie. He looks glum for exactly six seconds until he's back to being all smiles.

Well, yeah. In the first film, his arc is very clear and it's the only real character arc in the film.

In "Solo", there is none.

I saw it... I guess I shouldn't have used the "we" since people view different films differently.

For me, I saw the start of that jaded view, that he can't trust or count on the people he encounters, even long time friends, or mentors. He has that "first step in to a larger world" and rather than friendship or support he finds double crossing, manipulation and the need to shoot first. Despite the tinge of optimism at the end he's still started down that path.

I find it hard to get excited about any Star Wars project based on an existing character. With the exception of Luke I found them by far the weakest ones in the sequel trilogy, and Solo was (IMO) a cluttered mess of nothing. It think existing characters become a constraint on the creative process, especially when they're under the tight leash Disney keeps them on. Lando was good in Solo, but really only because we got to see Glover absolutely loving every second, and it felt more like an extended impression of the character than anything else. Lando has the charm to liven up a movie, but I'm not sure I see a main character there.

With Rogue One and The Mandalorian being the Star Wars products I've liked since ROTJ, I'm just going to be skipping over the existing character projects.

I'm down for this. Glover was great in the role. And if Ehrenreich isn't up for guest starring as Han, maybe they could recast and give Anthony Ingruber something to do.

I hope we at least get Donald Glover, he was the only good thing about Solo, and Id love to see him in the role again.

Casting is going to have so much to say about this show, for me. If they bring back Glover, I am all kinds of hyped. Bring back Glover AND Billy Dee Williams (old Lando framing sequences, perhaps) and this is easily my most anticipated piece coming out of the announcements today.

Man, what a day. Between this, Ahsoka, Rogue Squadron, and the Marvel announcements I don't have enough excitement in me to go around.

This one caught me by surprise. Wasn't expecting this. Success/failure will come down to casting. IF they can get Glover back .... major buzz and probably a sure win. If not??

Bet they bring back L3-37 droid. Maybe Chewbacca as well. Or maybe a young version Kuiil from "The Mandolorian." Get Nolte back to play the character.
