Kessel Run Transmission's Noah Outlaw and Corey Wolfpack, who revealed the existence of The Bad Batch before it was officially announced, are now saying that a Lando Calrissian series, featuring Donald Glover, is in the works for Disney+. Cinelinx's Jordan Maison then retweeted their announcement with the addition that Billy Dee Williams will also be returning for "a series", but he didn't specify if it was the same one. Never heard of Cinelinx or Maison, so I don't know what kind of history, if any, he has with these kinds of announcements.
Donald Glover's Lando was a highlight of Solo, so I would very gladly watch a Lando series, and Billy Dee Williams being a part of it too would just make it better.

I could see it like a variant of the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. With Retired General Lando,Billy Dee Williams or Donald Glover (as Lando just before landed the job of Baron Administrator of Cloud City?) telling a story about something Lando pulled off, and than going and showing the story (with Donald Glover, possibly on the Falcon). That might be fun for a season or three. Depending on how many stories/arcs they tell. They got at least six or more old EU tales to work with as starting points.

I like the idea in theory but people didn't seem to warm up to a new younger Han so I don't know if it will work. I think Glover though is a compelling potential lead so that gives it a good chance. Bring back LS-37. Also a live action Hondo Ohnaka.

Weren't they awkwardly setting up an adventure with Lando and the other former stormtrooper in "The Rise of Skywalker"? Could this be that?

I'd love to see both of these, Glover starring in a "young Lando" show and Billy Dee popping up min another show. Glover was the only good thing in Solo, and I'd really like to see him again, especially since so much of Lando's life isn't known so a show about him could do a lot of stuff.

As for Billy Dee, he's no spring chicken but I could see him doing a fun episode or two appearance on a Star Wars show, or maybe act as a narrator/framing device for a young Lando show.

While we think prequel I wonder if they would go sequel. You could then have a crossover event with The Mandolorian.

I saw a lot of people calling Glover's Lando a highlight of Solo, so even if they didn't like the guy who played Han, they did like him.

^I'd argue that tRoS had no idea what it was doing from one moment to the next so if that looked like a spin-off setup, it was entirely unintentional. Yes, I know in reality it's a leftover from a thread about Lando's daughter that was excised from the movie, which to me just adds to the whole "no one knows what they're doing!?" vibe.

As for Glover doing a Lando show: Well, it's been a no brainer idea since the moment 'Solo' came out with the only question mark being whether Glover wants to do it. To my way of thinking, the only way a show like that happens is if they give Glover significant creative control, because for one thing; why waste such a creative talent in front of the camera when he can tear it up behind the camera too. And for another, it has to be interesting in and of itself as a storytelling and artistic endeavour for him to commit that much time.

That or they just back the Disney dump truck-o-cash up his drive-way...

Glover was great as Lando, so I’m hopeful that this is legit. If this series does see the light of day, I hope Crimson Dawn is a major part of it. I always enjoyed the seedy underworld of Star Wars and a Lando series would be a good vehicle to explore that.

Done right, a Lando series could be awesome. Instead of a western like Mandalorian or a smuggler style story like Solo (or Firefly), we could have a gangster/gambler/rat pack style series like the Oceans movies.

I think you typoed spelling that Solo was all around great.

Actually, my only complaints about Solo was that it was one heist/job too long and ha one layer too many of who the villain was. I think Darth Maul was a bit too much

I only saw Solo the once, I thought Glover was OK but I don't recall being wowed by him. I still like the Star Wars universe but I'm more interested in new adventures than revisiting or rehashing what came before. Still, we don't really know much about Lando and he's a character with potential. I'd certainly watch if it was done decently.

I actually think Solo is an awesome reflection of the original Star Wars, with a bit of reverse Hero's Journey. Having a deeper villain is in line with the through line in ANH and ESB.

I might give it another rewatch at some point. I have a question, if you like Glover's Lando, is it because he feels like the Lando from the movies or because you just like Glover's personal take on the character?

Its fine if you like it. For me, its the only Star Wars movie (not counting the animated Clone Wars movie, which I don't really count as a "SW Film") that I will never own and will probably never watch again. This is coming from someone who enjoys all of the sequel trilogy and owns the Prequels on blu Ray (even though the first two prequels are shit).

I personally found Solo to be boring beyond belief. It had a terrible lead and supporting cast outside of Lando (with Game of thrones lady actually being worse in Solo then she was in Terminator Genesys, which is saying something), an awful villain, many absolutely moronic moments (like Han getting his last name) and outside of Lando in general and the Maul cameo I just didn't enjoy the film.

Its fine if you like it, but for me its the worst SW movie. On a technical level its better then the first two prequel films in the directing and script department, but being extremely boring, frustrating and pointless puts it below TPM or AOTC for me.

I thought he did a good job of making him recognizable as the character, but he still managed to put his own spin on him.

To quote a director friend of mine "At least stuff happens "

Obviously, a mileage will vary situation but how you feel about Solo I feel about TPM. Glover stands out as remarkable as Lando in his own right. Everyone in TPM feels stiff.

    Those aren't mutually exclusive concepts.

But regardless, Glover shouldn't be trying to play that character we saw in Empire & Jedi because at this point in his life, Lando isn't really that guy yet. This younger Lando is the Lando Han described to Leia, but it's not the one we met on Cloud City. He's the card playing, gambling scoundrel; beholden to nobody, master of his own fate, free as a bird. The guy Billy Dee played was an older, more seasoned version of that guy who had somewhat settled down and become responsible for an entire city (one he does not take lightly.)

Same applies to Alden Ehrenreich's performance, which is why I find the complaint that he's not exactly like Harrison Ford in ANH baffling, because of course he's not. That Had had flown from one side of the galaxy to the other and seen a lot of strange stuff, got himself into countless scrapes and very countable debt, hit the jackpot only to loose it all on some ill conceived venture over and over. He was a jaded veteran of the underworld that had stared death in the face. But he couldn't have started out like that, because *nobody* starts out like that.
Ehrenreich's version was exactly what he was supposed to be: a wet behind the ears kid who for all his street smarts, quick wits and ambition was sorely lacking in worldly experience. He still had the kind of naive optimism that he would later in life see reflected back at him in the for of Luke and Rey.

Sometime a swear some people have never even heard of a character arc.

Exactly so. It's ridiculous to expect them to be exactly the same.
