On the other hand, he is smart enough to be watching B5, so you have to give him some credit for that.

That assumes I like B5

Hey, I'm trying to give you credit. Do you not want it? ;) I mean, not liking B5 is a punishable offense, isn't it?

I'm all for the new Galactica series, too. I hope it turns out great. I loved the original, but the new one seems to be good as well.

Been a long time since I watched Crackers Don't Matter, but it's definitely a great one. Love the insane humor Farscape often provides.

Hey I just rewatched Crackers Don’t Matter last night too! But I fell asleep after the scene where Pilot zaps John. Not a super great episode, but it’s got its ‘Scape signature wackiness to it. I generally don’t enjoy as much the episodes where the characters go crazy due to some outside influence, but that one’s alright. I actually kinda like Taking the Stone too. I like how John and Chiana got sort of a big brother and little sister thing going there. Love how she calls him “old man” at the end. Very touching. :)

-Did they change the actress for Na'Toth? I skipped the title sequence to avoid spoilers for Delenn's change, so I didn't see if they had or not. But it didn't seem like the same actress.
[Kosh Voice] Yes [/Kosh Voice] :D The first actress they got freaked out while wearing the makeup, so they got (Julie) Caitlin Brown. She started getting other work opportunities, and left to pursue those. So they got yet another actress for the job.

Ah, I see. I must say that so far, I liked the old actress better at the role. But I guess I haven't given the new one enough time. :)

Just watched The Geometry of Shadows and A Distant Star. A couple of seemingly (more or less) stand alone episodes. I know that TGS sets up Londo a bit more in his ambitions. ADS was more stand alone though, with only a few elements related to the overall arc, namely the rumours of something out on the rim and the ship in hyperspace that almost foiled the rescue of the Cortez.

Oh, and what's up with Dr. Franklin?! Forcing everyone on a diet... I mean... food plan. :p

Yeah, the interaction between the characters makes eps, with plots that aren't all that interesting, enjoyable. Which is why Enterprise does absolutely nothing for me. Even if the script is good, I just don't give a rip about the characters. On the other hand, shows like DS9, Buffy, Angel, Firefly, B5, SG-1 and Farscape have really great characters. So even if the ep itself isn't very good, the characters can make it work. :)

Yeah, characters do make the show (for the most part). The reason you mentioned above is the exact same one for my lack of interest in Enterprise. But I’ve decided to give it a try again when season 4 starts. All the hype about the new writing staff has gotten to me. I only hope it’s not gonna crap out like the last time around. (season 3, new direction, darker and more exciting, blah blah blah)

I don’t want to spoil it for Steven either but it was sure was great how they worked Sinclair back into the story later on …and yeah it took me a few eps to get used to Sheridan too but he turned out great for the part.

One of the many little fascinating morsels of B5 is why the Mimbari stood down at the ‘battle of the line’ when they were at the threshold of victory and why it was so important to conceal this knowledge…..boy that was great show with some outstanding characters.

Hmmm ... a choice between getting credit or not appreciating Babylon 5.

I'll take the realistic non-liking B5 any day. ;) :p

I've never been a conformist

Okay, disc 2 season 2 is down. Seemingly stand alone episodes, but as G'Kar has said, nothing is as it appears. ;)

-Okay, the continual references to an upcoming war or something is going on is starting to become like an annoying tapping on the arm. When is it going to become smack upside the head with a stick (or cricket bat ;))?!

-Question about B5 the station. There's what looks like two docking ports at the end (or front) of the station. One on the rotating part and one up above on the grey stationary part. What's the difference between the two?

-Earth Alliance... when I start hearing things like "practicality is more important then principles if lives are to be saved" from a senator... what's going on?

-And the Mars situation seems like classic colony/motherland rivarly. The colony wants to be separate, but the motherland doesn't want to give it up...

-I doubt we've seen the last of Bureau 13, right? :p But one question... I thought San Diego will still supposed to be uninhabitable?

-"Soul Mates" was more of a comedy episode to me. Londo's wives, Delenn's bad hair day... Though I did wonder if kicking out two of his wives is going to cause Londo some problems in the future?

-Psi Corps. I'm not quite sure what to say about them. They're really trying to take over, aren't they? :borg:

-And another question about human telepaths... how did they come to be? Genetic engineering?

Anyways, I might move on to disc 3 later. :)

The last time I went through season two (Probably spring 2003) I remember thinking "Okay, I get it - WAR!" You'll get a little taste of war veeeeery soon though.

-Question about B5 the station. There's what looks like two docking ports at the end (or front) of the station. One on the rotating part and one up above on the grey stationary part. What's the difference between the two?
Rotating = civilians, diplomats, etc.
Non-rotating = supplies, hardware, equipment, etc.
The non-rotating part of the station is zero-gravity (I think) so it's mostly equipment up there.

-Earth Alliance... when I start hearing things like "practicality is more important then principles if lives are to be saved" from a senator... what's going on?
Earth Alliance has a ways to go to becoming the Federation.

-And the Mars situation seems like classic colony/motherland rivarly. The colony wants to be separate, but the motherland doesn't want to give it up...
Mars is a reoccuring locale throughout the series. Mars is cool.

-I doubt we've seen the last of Bureau 13, right? :p But one question... I thought San Diego will still supposed to be uninhabitable?
You'll wish you'd heard the last of Bureau 13! Muhahaha!

-And another question about human telepaths... how did they come to be? Genetic engineering?
Although the answer is only somewhat implied, you'll probably enjoy the truth about telepaths when you figure it out.

Anyways, I might move on to disc 3 later. :)
The next episode you'll be watching, Coming of Shadows won that years Hugo award for excellance in sci-fi... So, it's pretty good. :p

Interesting comments.... I'll be very interested to see what you have to say about the next ep on the list, which I see has been introduced already. ;) Don't worry about the hype; just enjoy.

*Smacks Steven with a cricket bat*

Yeah I know - but it's about all I can post while you're discussing B5 :p

Very pleased you are moving right along with season 2 of B5, Steven! And I'm glad you are enjoying it. It will take a while for the references to the upcoming war to *completely* pan out...but believe me, there is alot of stuff that is totally "must see" before that! JMS plotted out the series very specifically...so believe me when I say that everything is as it should be! ;)

   No f**king kidding!

Wow... just wow. Standing on the edge of peace... and Londo f**ks it up. :(

[edit]
Oh yeah, something I noticed during the title sequence. Why is Ivanova still listed as a Lt. Commander in the titles when she's a Commander now?

What? No comment on the comment about smacking me with a cricket bat? :p
You're enjoying the series, so there's no need to swat you with the bat. :p :D

The starfish, on the other hand....

"The Coming of Shadows" is quite a decent episode, isn't it? :D I was completely blown away when I (eventually - long story) saw it. The events flowed so naturally that it was almost as though they were actually happening. And the image of G'Kar trying to buy Mollari a drink - with no idea of what he had just done - freaks me out every time I see it.

^
That scene is more powerful the second time through the series I find, as you... well, anyone who's seen the series will know what I mean. :p

I'm talking about a redux of this scene in season four.

^
Oh, wow... How true is that? That scene is one of the highlights of the whole series for me.

*** must not say anything else ***

I tried to get into B5 about a year ago. I got through the first episode, and I was bored out of my mind. I never got motivated enough to pick it up again... maybe I'll try it again, since I had the same reaction with Firefly (since I now looooove FF), but no guarantees, I suppose.

Convince me, people! :D
