Hey, I was just curious if you happen to know, do all stores have those free slip covers for Kill Bill V1 & V2? Cos my g/f said she's gonna get V2, so I told her to try to get it. :)

I'm pretty sure it was a Best Buy offer only (they tend to have things like that a lot), but I'm not positive. I didn't see the slipcover in any of the circulars for other stores in this past Sunday's paper. You can buy EITHER V1 or V2 and get the slipcover at Best Buy, which I was thankful for! What's nice about the slipcover is it's pretty sturdy, as thick as the cardboard slipcovers for any regular DVD release.

And Alien Vs. Predator wasn't that bad at all; I liked it more than Resident Evil, anyway. :) It had some good action, and it didn't fly in the face (too much) of what the other Alien movies established. Plus, it was just kinda cool to see these characters onscreen again (too bad they had to have humans in the cast :D). There was a hilarious reference to something Bishop does in Aliens that had the audience laughing quite a bit (you'd know it when you saw it).

So, in short, it never got boring, kept up a nice pace, and visually it looked pretty damn good. It's a typical summer movie, in other words.

Ok, well the thing is that there's no Best Buy anywhere close to where my g/f lives. Maybe they'll have the slip cover at FutureShop, considering FS is owned by BB. :)

Anyway, it's cool that you liked AvP. I don't have any plans to see it in the theatre, but I do plan to rent the DVD at some point.

And now for my B5 update. :p

I'm watching through season 1 again just to get up to speed and I've come to one conclusion: Earth Alliance has some major problems. That, and I'm starting to consider G'Kar to be one of my favourite characters. Londo is okay, but he seems a bit over the top.

Heh. Wait.

I can't recall how far along you are now, but Londo Mollari starts becoming more interesting in the second season.

He's my favorite character in all of sci-fi. He even brought a tear to my eye in season five, and I've only gotten that emotional a few times due to television.

Stick with it, Steven. It gets so much better. ;)

And G'Kar is probably my favourite character in all SF, too.

*** hurries out before mantra fails ***

^ See...posting in the DS9 forum can be fun! :D

I'm a huge Londo fan myself, SB...but G'Kar is fantastic as well. IMO, these are the absolute two *best* characters in all of scifi...and Peter Jurasik and Andreas Katsulas turned in an entire series full of absolutely *flawless* performances to make them the best characters ever.

You'd be hard pressed to find a bigger B5 gusher than I am, and this thread is great cus everyone in there has either seen and loved B5, is in the process of seeing it now, or is open to being convinced of it's greatness.

We talk a fair amount about B5 in this thread, as well as Farscape, The X-Files, Firefly, and all sorts of movies...not to mention plain 'ole real life! ;)

The folks who post in this thread are some of my favorite folks on the board....and you are certainly welcome to join us in here! :)

Steven, what episode are you up to now, in B5?

The Evil Dead...I watched another episode of The X-Files on my business trip - Folie A Deux...it was pretty good, but I really enjoyed the two episodes I watched at home last week - All Souls and The Pine Bluff Variant.

I'm gonna try and watch The End this afternoon. And then I guess I need to make time for the movie! :)

BigFoot, hope you had a great time on your vacation! And I'm very pleased that you have had a good time at home this summer. BTW, when are you scheduled to go back to Canada?

/\ I'm watching season 1 again, and I watched Signs and Portents last night. Then I watched it again with the commentary track. It was interesting to hear the behind-the-scenes stuff in planning out the series and all. :)

Yeah, it was a lot of fun. :D I'm going back to Canada on September 19th.
Anyway, I've watched a couple more eps of Farscape in the last couple of days, I actually just watched PK Tech Girl. I'm really enjoyed the show, PK Tech Girl was great and I can't remember the last time I laughed as much as when Rygel.... helped out at the end of "Thank God it's Friday, Again". :D

I also watched three eps of SG-1 and two eps of Atlantis (I still have to watch this week's ep of Atlantis) in the last couple of days. I have to say that SG-1 hasn't been all that great so far this year. I mean, it's decent, but a little...I don't know, it just doesn't feel quite right. I also miss some sort of a bigger plot. I'd love to see Jacob or Bra'tac again, I miss those guys. :)
Atlantis has been pretty good so far. I already like all the characters, especially McKay. :D

I also watched the last two episodes of The 4400 and that was pretty good. Nothing special, but still quite enjoyable. I still have one ep of The Dead Zone to watch aswell, and hey, there's a new one out tonight. :)

Oh and does anyone around here watch North Shore? It's a fairly new show on Fox. It takes places in a hotel on Hawaii. Anyway...I like the show, it's not as fun as The O.C. for instance, but still quite enjoyable.

I'm gonna stop rambling now though. :D

^ Glad you liked PK Tech Girl! That is one of my favorite season 1 episodes, actually. I can't wait until you get to Durka Returns, Nerve and The Hidden Memory though. That is when Farscape *really* comes into it's own, IMO. All three of those are among my favorites in Farscape. You'll have to let me know what you think when you get there!

So Steven, when do you think you are gonna be able to get season 2 of B5??? If you like season 1, you will love season 2. And you will REALLY love seasons 3 and 4!!!! I can't wait until you get them!

^ Well I just watched "That Old Black Magic" and it was pretty good. I'm really interesting what's gonna happen with the whole Zhaan's dark side thingy. It should be interesting.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I'll definately post more thoughts about Farscape as I progress through it. :)

^ Well, that's a pretty good one...but not as good as PK Tech Girl and the ones I mentioned above.

I am so excited for you to see those other episodes!!! Hurry up! :p

^ Will do, hehe.

Hopefully I'll be having a test drive of a VW Polo tomorrow. Cos I plan to get one next year and I want to check out a certain engine, see how it drives.

I also watched this week's ep of Atlantis and I thought it fairly decent. So far the show has been pretty good. :)

^ You guys gotta remind me to watch Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis on Fridays. I'm not in practice for regular TV watching as I'm always watching TV shows on DVD. And so I keep forgetting they are on.

I saw the first 2 episodes of Atlantis and really liked it. And I've always liked Stargate SG-1.

Well, I'm almost done tearing through season 1 again, then I'll start with season 2. I'm really enjoying the series and the interactions between the characters. :)

Although I must say that Earth Alliance seems to have a lot of internal problems, Mars colony revolts, Psi Corps taking over the government, anti-alien movements, like WTF?!

Oh, and I figured out the jumpgate vortex colours. :D Evidently, they're blue when something is coming out, and yellow when something is going in. At least, that's my observation, but it's held up so far. ;)

I seem to recall us having that conversation before. :D They're just endlessly fascinating characters...and damn it, everything I want to say next is a spoiler. Hurry up and get caught up, Steven - and anyone else who's new to B5. ;)

Steven, what episodes and characters impress you most so far? I have plenty of favourite episodes from the first season. There's a lot of good stuff there, even though it can be a bit of a struggle at times with all the setup that's going on. ;)

Okay, so I've recently - ahem - 'acquired' all nine seasons of The X-Files, and I've been watching them in order from the beginning of season one. I'm just about finished with season seven (I just watched Je Souhaite, one of my favorite episodes) - I've got to say, it's a lot of work watching 150 episodes of the same show in a fairly frequent schedule. (Phew!)

I'm glad, however, that I'll finally be able to watch season eight and nine in order, because I missed a lot of those seasons due to the fact that I was finishing high school and starting college during that time.

...and I like Doggett & Reyes. Shut up.

...and I like Doggett & Reyes. Shut up.
 REALLY?!

I'm kidding, I think they rock. Infact, Doggett's introduction, in my opinion, juiced the show up after two lackluster seasons. I know season eight and nine get looked down upon a lot, but its season six and seven that are the real weak ones. Although there's plenty of good episodes in there, the show had a lack of direction.

My theory on Doggett and Reyes is, that you have to have been a shipper to not warm up to them. Both are played by good actors, infact I find Robert Patrick to be a more talented individual than David Duchovny. Plus the camera absolutely loves the guy. He just looks badass on film, combined with the fact that those DVDs make the show itself look very superb... You feel like you're watching a movie instead of tv.

Anyway, as to my theory about shippers not warming up to Doggett and Reyes, I never really realized the true power of shippers until recently becoming friends with the Archer/T'Pol shippers in the Enterprise forum. That forum is dominated by shippers! I wasn't a big fan of X-Files back in the heyday, but now I realize Mulder/Scully was a big part of it - I haven't met a lot of female fans who don't love Mulder/Scully's romantic tension. For me, I never cared that much. I thought they were great characters, I enjoyed their working relationship but I watched too see creepy murderers, twisted mutant killers, and alien coverups. Season eight and nine provided that in better fashion than the more light hearted past two seasons.

By the way, I loved Je Souhaite a lot myself. Any other episodes over the past little while you can remember really enjoying?? My favorite of all time is Home - pure X-Files if you ask me.

I think I'm going to go even slower now... :p

The episodes that I really like so far are "Midnight on the Firing Line" and "Parliament of Dreams". Of course, most of the episodes have their good points. :) As for characters, well, I already mentioned that I like G'Kar, Londo is a bit on the strange side, and Delenn (and the whole Minbari) are rather interesting. Aside from Earth Alliance, I think we've seen more of them then the other races so far.

Anyways, I watched up to "Babylon Squared" last night. And I'm still rather confused about this episode after watching it again.
-Babylon 4 disappears shortly after going online because someone in the future "unstuck" (for lack of a better word) the station from time. Now this happened because they (whoever 'they' are) need a base of operations in a war (according to the alien guy... ah... Zathras).
-It reappears for a short time so they can get everyone off the station and (possibly) to warn Sinclair and co. about an upcoming war.
-Old Sinclair (aka The One) was trying to warn them about the war, but evidently everything was happening just as he had remembered...
-I know that's not everything...

Seriously, WTF?

:p

^ Like Vash and I told you after you watched Babylon Squared for the first time, you've got to wait until you see War Without End so that the whole thing will make sense. :D But once you do watch WWE, you're gonna be impressed by how well JMS planned the show. :)
