^ Yeah, I loved that scene. And if I remember correctly, the atheist's clothes were the least silly. :D

Well I'm reporting in...as long as I can find enough threads to post in that don't require me to have seen DS9 recently I'll stick around...I don't have the DVDs and can't get cable, so no SPIKE marathon for me... :(. But hey, these threds are cool... some of the best ones in the lounges, :D.

Well...

(puts down glass and scootches away from table)

I'm off to the holosuite to catch a double feature of Hellboy and The Ladykillers. See y'all later!

^ I don't know about The Ladykillers but Hellboy is great.

And tell Quark that you can use my Monster Cinema program. I have the good reclining seats with enough leg room not the cheap hard ones that he usually has.

Well, I just got back. I wanted to see The Ladykillers because the Coens are among my favorite filmmakers, and I'll give anything they do a shot. That said, I rather enjoyed the film myself. It took a little while to get started, but once the tunneling began it picked up quite a bit. Marlon Wayans did grate on occasion, but his hilarious facial expressions helped redeem him. As my username might suggest, I also dug the Poe references. I'd probably give the movie ***1/2/*****

As for Hellboy, I was a little let down, but just a little. I had never read the comics or heard much about the plot, so I was going into it knowing very little. I liked the characters immensely, though most of them didn't get much screen time. The plot was a little hard to follow at times, and some things weren't given enough background information for my taste. I thought Ron Perlman did a great job, the makeup and most of the CGI was great, and I wouldn't mind if they made a sequel. I'd probably give this one ***1/2/***** as well.

Bumping up the thread

Is anybody else planning on taping DS9 marathons on Spike?
I have this week all planned out:

OPERATION DS9

*Theme from Mission Impossible plays in the background*

Tomorrow I work 8-4 so I'm going to program my VCR to record 12:00PM-4:30PM (extended play mode of course) I should be home by 4:30PM.
At 4:30PM I will change the tape, leave for school at 5:00PM, and when I come home from school at 10:30PM I'm going to get me some Doritos and Lemonade lay down on the couch and immerse myself in the DS9 goodness.
My entire week looks very similar to that.

I only hope they'll stop showing those marathons before I die of sleep deprivation .

ORDER UP!!! Nice to see things getting started off well here in the thread of all threads!! :D That is, the thread that can comprise a multitude of thread topics that would probably only have 1-2 responses anyway. So just shove em in here

My Matrix av was not acceptable, so I'm a bit bummed. Did they reduce the file size?? I could've sworn I was in compliance the last time I featured it? Maybe I'll just silently revolt (pout) without an av :(

One question - why this thread title? I didn't even know what this thread was until I got REALLY bored the other day. I was expecting something like "Kev's Gagh Palace" or something else that sounded like...you know...a Klingon restaurant? :)

Ah well. One raktajino, please.
One raktajino for the faithful bandwagon jumper ;) Honestly, I went back & forth on what to call this thread. I probably should've just called it "The Klingon Restaurant" or something. But I was hoping to give it something a little catchier. Probably failed royally, but hopefully folks will catch on & post anyway

Thanks for letting me use this av, kevsthaman! I'm just linking it to your space if that's okay. If not, just let me know. :)
No prob, man! Enjoy!

Why not "Gagh's Kev Palace"?
No restaurant of mine will be named after slimey things that keep slithering off my plate :D

I hope you'll consider this a "safe" thread to pop into. There probably won't be any topics in here longer than a page! We're just here to order delicious cuisine (and whatever that crap is Quark's pushing :p) and chat with each other. As long as you like DS9, come on in!

Well, that's today's essay  Vic will start up again in half an hour. So get your tux on and keep on enjoying

^kev, I think there is a thread about avatars in QSF that you may want to check out. I don't know what the specifics are, but I can't imagine your avatar was *really* over the limits.

Check it out, okay?

Good reviews! I've seen both movies also. I'm not familiar with the Coen brothers, but I just had to see a movie where Tom Hanks returned to comedy styles similar to what he was doing before all his Oscar-contending dramas of late. I thought it was a crazy ride. I love the old lady's mannerisms, reminds me of my grandmother ;) This is a dark comedy, and I've been put off by those recently cause they often grow sickening and end up making me feel hollow inside (like Very Bad Things). But this one, though grim, does end up favorable as tragic comedies go. I don't know how this one compares to the original, but I don't think I wasted my money.

I enjoyed both movies myself, though I'd probably give the edge to Hellboy. I read a graphic novel that comprised of a group of comics, dealing a lot with the topic of the movie (origin, return of Rasputin, etc). So I was probably more prepared for the movie. I think all the characters were done with a lot of respect for the original material, especially Hellboy himself. I already knew Ron Perlman was playing the part when I read the comic, and I felt like he would be perfect for the role after reading the comic. He definitely did not let me down! The story was good too, more than just "badguy comes to rule the world". I think if they can mesh the characters with another worthwhile plot, I'd pay for a sequel.

Well, the PM I got stated that the limit for GIFs is 61,440 bytes (60k). Mine is 65,905 bytes. Oops :o I doubt my av grew in size on it's own, so maybe the rules changed slightly. S'OK, I can shave it down some more sometime. Just don't plan on doing it soon. Ain't no thing, I'll put up something else just to join in on the fun

I'll give the thread a bump.

And since I already watched Battle Lines not too long ago, I guess I'll run out and pick up Matrix Revolutions while I'm thinking about it.

Tomorrow I think I'll switch to my Kill Bill O'Brien av, now that the MR DVD is out.

ORDER UP!!

...even tho no one's ordered! Well, vermillion has. A mega-sized raktijino to you and all those braving through the week-long marathon! Starbucks ain't got nuthin on me

I believe it's coming out the 13th, only 3 days before Vol. 2 hits theaters. So you have time!

Well, if you guys want me to participate, someone needs to make me an avatar.

I have no idea who the characters are though....

I'll try to make a couple animated ones using the trailer from my soundtrack, unless someone else has some ready to go?
