A Hope. PLEASE! no final countdown!

I am hoping beyond hope that this movie will not have a dramatic countdown to "Save The Day" TM. Such as The thalaron generator, the Son'a ring crusher, the Cochrance Warp Drive Countdown, the Soran Missile Drama, The Genesis Buildup to Detonation.

PLEASE

NO DRAMATIC COUNTDOWNS!

I agree. I hope the movie doesn't end with some fighting scene with the captain fighting the evil villain to the death. Every TNG movie had some final scene with Picard vs. Villain. (Soren, Sona, Borg Queen, Shinzon). I can't believe they couldn't be more creative than that.

To be honest I think its pretty clear that PineKirk takes on Nero one on one at least once in the movie and the shots in the trailer would appear to imply that there will be a face off during the climax.

Personally I think Nero and Spock (Nimoy) should go at it. We need some experience to deal with the problem!

It's obvious that this film ends with Kirk v Nero on the Narada.

And there'll probably be a countdown timer to the impending destruction of Earth at the same time.

I don't mind at all, if it's handled with a good sense of drama and suspense.

They are okay if the movie has you invested in the outcome. I thought the First Contact countdown was very well edited and paid off, Genesis countdown was classic "Scotty, I need warp drive in 3 minutes or we're all dead" - I always thought Scotty should've replied something funny to that (no pressure you know). Nemesis, Insurrection, Generations countdowns didn't work because the first 2/3s of those movies didn't really work either. Shinzon's ship took longer to "transform" than anything else, Insurrection didn't have us caring if a bunch of blonde people continued to live forever or not, and Generations we were fighting to save a pre-industrial civilization that we had never seen...

Based on what I have read, it seems that Kirk will face Nero and be losing but find the will with in himself to become the Captain Kirk we know....
