A HBO series on the Gardella Vampire Chronicles

First it was Twilight. Then the Southern Vampire Mysteries which led to the creation of the show True Blood. After that, the Vampire Diaries.

What are the chances of HBO doing a show on the Gardella Vampire Chronicles by Collen Gleason? Do it'll work as a series?

What's special about the Gardella Vampire Chronicles?

HBO might shy away from vamps just to not seem to be jumping on the bandwagon too much. Plus, they already have True Blood.

Yeah, HBO won't make another vamp series while True Blood is still on the air. I wouldn't be surprised if Showtime or Starz does a vamp series at some point, though - maybe an Anita Blake series (one of the most popular and longest-running book series in the urban fantasy genre).

Doubtful, Anne Rice named her series the Vampire Chronicles too and they are more popular, but then there are dozens of series out there that are similar that could be adapted for television that would be 'new' to the public and have a better chance of an unbiased reception.

We've got enough vamps on TV now. I'd rather see HBO develop one of the sci fi series they supposedly have in the hopper:

Humanitas

medical drama set in a time when major advances in medicine have created dilemmas for doctors and fanned fears that a devastating pandemic is imminent

The World Inside

drama about about a grim vision of the future where overpopulation has run amok, and people live in carefully controlled urban centers where frustration and anger are eliminated, sex is rampant and fertility is the most prized human attribute

Or stop overthinking things and just make a good space opera.

And speaking of HBO, here's my new favorite series. Deadwood, a few decades later and two thousand miles east...

The Necroscope series by Brian Lumley is one vampire series I would definitley watch. Quite different than anything else I have read. Would make for a great series.
