a fat kirk

Captain
Captain
bill shatner said in a interview not long ago that he was ok with NOT being in the new movie! ;)Becase he was too fat and oid to play kirk! he was just mad becase no 1 come to ask him about the movie! Would you like to see him play kirk 1 last time or remember him young? ;)

In a way I know what you mean. William Shatner may have become a little overweight ( happens to the best of us!) but in a strange way I'd like to think that James T. Kirk stayed more, well, trim. Maybe the way he looked in Star Trek IV is the way his body would stay in my mind, though Kirk's face of course would still age. If you know what I mean.

Perhaps being dead just made him bloat. Whatever they would have had to do to bring him back could have accounted for the extra pounds.

Spock: "Captain, I have brought you back from death."
Kirk: "Yes, but you brought back too much of me."

Keep him dead. I personally like Shatner. I tend to think that most of the negativity toward him is unfounded. But I think it creates a greater sense of loss, isolation, and pathos, to know that Kirk is truly gone. I'd hate to lose that by continuing to bring him back, even after his death in Generations.

Just because he's not pausing dramatically, that doesn't mean he's not acting.

Shatner acts upset, people run to see. And it doesn't cost him a dime.

He and his PR people are doing a great job.

Joe, loves Shatner

I personally enjoy the Shat and think he's an okay guy.

Somebody had to say it.

I think he looked great in Generations. Even at that age he still made a believable action hero!

I'm amazed by how professionally active and vivacious Shatner is at nearly 78 years of age. I have no particular interest in seeing Shatner's Kirk again, but Shatner himself is at the top of his game.

I'm okay with Shat, but let's face it, by the last 6 episodes of the 2nd season they were being very careful about their cuts.

My favorite is when he is knocked out in Omega Glory, and we are treated to a full shot of his chins.

Or in Ultimate Computer where we bring him around behind the transporter console just so we can avoid the belly shot with him next to the slim Commodore Wesley.

Have you seen By Any Other Name lately? Granted the shirts had shrunk by then but by 21st century standards, Our Hero was all a-bulge.

Hey, I have 20 too many pounds on me, too. But then, I'm not being paid the 60s equivalent of $5000 a week to look good, either.

It's hard when you're 5'10" (Shatner's claimed height) and even harder when you're 5'8 (closer to reality). Still, he's never looked as good as he did in the early-mid first season, except perhaps during TMP, but by then who cares?
