A Deep Space Nine graphic novel?

Death Ray

I’m a comic book creator, and I have been trying to entice IDW comics to discuss “return to Deep Space Nine” graphic novel. Unfortunately, they don’t accept unsolicited pitches.

It occurs to me that it might be easier to get that permission if I could show there was interest in such a project. It’s a long shot, but I just can’t get the idea out of my head. Are there people on this board who would want to read a DS9 story about Ben Sisko returning in power and glory from the wormhole to change the destiny of the Federation?

Indeed. Best of luck though. Maybe look at adapting the "season eight" story pitch from the DS9 documentary?

It was while I was listening to that doc that I realized "I've got a better idea than this!"

The core of the concept, beyond Ben Sisko's return, is that the Bajorans are getting riled up and preparing for conflict with the Federation. The Federation, for their part, is weary of war and is trying to keep news of what is happening on Bajor from reaching earth. An election is coming that could see power within the Federation pivot from earth for the first time in generations, and people learning what is happening on Bajor--and why--could lead to consequences that alter Starfleet's mission forever.

Unravelling the mystery of everything that is taking place in space leads Jake Sisko on a journey where, one by one, he reunites with the crew of Deep Space Nine for the first time in years and they start to fill in the puzzle for him.

Your plot outline with Jake interviewing the crew one by one sounds intriguing-- hopefully there is also significant focus on Ben, Kasidy and their child. I’ve never read any DS9 novels, but one thing that always seemed strange or contrived was so many of the characters going their separate ways, in the finale - Sisko, Odo, the O’Briens, Worf, Garak, Nog, Rom & Leeta. It would be satisfying to see how things went for each of them.
I'd definitely read a graphic novel with Sisko's return.

The most frustrating thing about my idea is that I’m constantly building it in my head to the point where I have begun to imagine how the story could be realized as a non-Trek story. But so much of the concept depends on the audience’s familiarity with the characters and events of DS9!

If it were a screenplay, I would say I have come up with lots of cool set pieces already. My favorite would be Jake visiting Ferenginar to see Nog. I imagine the Ferengi homeworld as a debauched “Rick and Morty” slimescape.
