Doomsday
was first broadcast on Saturday 8th July 2006. One hundred and twenty months have passed since then.

Thoughts, reflections...

I was in Israel, Jerusalem in fact, so missed it on first broadcast. Had my wife and son texting me saying 'this is very emotional' 'you'd definitely be crying now'. They are my abiding memories of Doomsday.

It's hard to remember that far back, when I actually liked Rose and didn't think she & Tennant were insufferably smug together.

More recently, I tried to get some of my friends to watch the new series, starting with "Rose." But once they hit "Doomsday," it was like pulling teeth getting them to continue. It's not that they were so attached to Rose. It's just that the way that she left was so sad that they had a hard time continuing. In the end, I got them to muddle through Season 3 but they pretty much quit for good after Astrid died in "Voyage of the Damned." Later, I managed to get them to watch "Silence in the Library," "Forest of the Dead," the first half of "Midnight," a bunch of the Matt Smith shorts, and some of the funnier bits from "Deep Breath" but that's it.

You know what's really distracting while watching Doomsday? Rose's running eyeliner whenever she's crying. Yeah, I know, that's what happens when people wearing eyeliner cry, but damn, it really is distracting when I'm watching those scenes.
