It was fairly enjoyable, but lacking in a somewhat indefinable way for me. Liked the "Galaxy Class" and "Lens Flare" Trek nods.
Brilliant! Best Xmas special ever!
I mean, the shark jumps Dr Who rather than the other way round - what more needs be said?!
Well... It was hilarious, it was thrilling, had very nice effects, and was somewhat upsetting in places (for me, that is- it managed to echo all three main bereavements). I could see where the story was going as soon as we saw the numbers on the ice-box. I knew exactly where the Doctor was going to fuck things up...
VOTD is my previous favourite special and it's interesting that this follows that by having the female guest be a singing star trying her hand at acting, by playing a blonde who sacrifices herself and dies.
I guess the Blinovitch Limitation Effect is no longer... in effect. (Nor are the Reapers!) Gambon was brilliant, of course, as was Matt Smith.
Nice trailer at the end too!

I found this enormously entertaining through out, with some great comedy moments. And, I admit it, I got a bit misty eyed at times.
And, of course, it owes much to the Moff's own short story 'Continuity Errors'.

Really, I quite enjoyed that. Even got teary-eyed over the photo montage of their Christmas adventures. So do Abigail and the kid qualify as Companions?
But good lord, how does Matt/The Doctor get all that energy? Watching him racign about at a mile a minute just wore me the hell out. The man is the definition of 'boundless energy'.
Random thoughts:
* I know I'm supposed to be all cynical, but I really adored the singing.
* I was expecting a straight retelling of the Dickens story. Nice twist on it instead.
* Ummm, shouldn't something have exploded when Mr Sardick hugged his younger self?
* Having just discovered the wonders of Steampunk, I got quite a thrill out of the planet, costumes, and set designs. Goggles for everybody!
* Hmmm, so the Doctor married Marilyn? Considering how she ended up, thats actually a bit dark.
Will try to post more later as I'm still in the 'giddy aftermath' stage.

I thought it was great, myself. Not the best the show (or even Moffat\Smith) has ever done, to be sure, but still quite entertaining, and much more Christmas-y than most of the RTD specials. It was fun, it was touching where it needed to be, and the steampunk\fantasy design of the planet was very, very cool.
Also, I had to pause because I was laughing too much when the Doctor was going on about being engaged to Marilyn Munroe.
