Rather than bump "The End of Time part 2" thread

France has finally decided to air The End of Time (outrageously retitled La Prophécie de Noël (A Christmas Prophecy)).

It might be fun for you to watch Doctor Who in french, so here is part 2. You might wanna cover your hears at the end though. Matt Smith's french voice is... special.

LE GERONIMO!!!

Well, a confirmation of my theory that it's incredibly hard to dub David Tennant. It didn't work in German, either, though that dubbing job was awfully bad from the start. No wonder it never took off here and was cancelled after two seasons. Unlike with the French Star Trek video I actually understood what they said in the teaser, but possibly only because I still remember it pretty well.

I just watched a shit load of Wings. Far too much Wings for a sane man to healthily digest without fear of cramps or the trots.

There's an episode of wings called: Love is never having to say Geronimo

I got banned from GB. That's right, they even gave a major fandom figure like me the shove.

Like that's difficult. They ban anyone for any random reason. Even people who have written for the series and for books. It's pretty easy to get banned there, really. That and the mods there are the reasons I don't choose to visit.
Yeah. And they banned me. But then they probably think anyone new who joins is Ford Timelord.

Not sure how allowed posting that on here is. Not that anyone here's French.

...are they?

You have to wonder if Kazran plans to corner the market on fish drawn carriages?

With a bit of forward-thinking he could take over the world again quite easily.

He still essentially rules the world, only now with a BIT of a better heart.

The real question is, and I am shocked they never mentioned this, will he see fit to freaking let all those hundreds of people he has locked away in his basement GO?

I mean, I'd think the Doctor would have had a bit of a problem with this ethically, but I suppose he does have to let some of humanities atrocities resolve themselves on their own. He wasn't that upset about the OOD being used as slaves until he discovered they were being butchered as well. Even then, he was mostly defending himself. The OODs took care of maters on their own.

Changin' Kazran will change other things, like a ripple effect. The Doctor let him have his last day, and probably expects Kazran to do the right thing afterwards.

And in the case of the Ood, he believed the cover story that they were serving others willingly. Unless I'm imagining things, he explained as much either to Rose or Donna.

Yeah, but even in "The Impossible Planet" he knew they were still slaves. He swallowed the kool aid a bit about just how well they liked it, etc, but the Doctor obviously puts up with slavery or else he wouldn't have allowed humans to enslave each other throughout the years.

Actually, the best explanation about why the Doctor never showed up and stopped slavery or the holocaust or other nightmares of humanity was in the Torchwood Children of Earth special. When we bring this shit on ourselves, he can't help but turn his back.

"Surplus Population" is a quote from the original text, in reference to exterminating (allowing death of)the poor, mass graves, to lessen the burden on the rich continuously dolling out to taxes and charity.

Their world might not be capable of receiving an extra few thousand... Ten thousand people, as it would destabilise the finances of that number of families suddenly having to caretake individuals so useless that they were seen as more uselfful in cold storage than working under the yolke... God forbid that they turned to crime, or gathered together to topple the sitting government and kazran himself.

Meanwhile, handing back the security without collecting on his loans might ruin kazrans personal finance since he is charging interest on those loans and using the debt as collateral against loans of his own.

Remember fight club?

Blowing up the credit card company computers?

I also wondered about this: Due to the Doctor's interference, the cloud control system is now unusable by anyone. Does this mean sharks will soon flood the city? Or will the cloud cover just stay in place forever?

He doesn't have to call off the debt. He does, however, have to see that holding human beings as security deposits is something that has to stop.

The Doctor wasn't big on the cloud control machine from the start. Maybe now the planet will have to learn how to live better with their environment, rather than just controlling it and making it conform to them. Even Karzan as a child told his father that "We don't have to be afraid of the fish." Singing works, for starters.

Amy being River was suggested back in our discussion of the fifth series...it's not a theory that I subscribe to and quite frankly I think we've been overthinking who River Song is. The Moff loves to toss in twists and things yes but also I wouldn't be shocked if it was something simple in the end when we do find out about her.

I think moff planned out who she was when he created her which i wish more writers would do.

Loved the episodea christmas carol is such a classic story to work around. Kim going to be snowboarding in France for the next 5 months i dont think ill be able to see the start of season 6:rolleyes: Im really looking forward to seeing it when I can.
Oh and good to hear the 11th Dr theme again.
