A Burning House

ABH is in stock at World's Biggest in Toronto. Just picked up a copy.

You know, before reading Diplomatic Implausibility I didn't really think that I would enjoy Klingon stories. Couldn't have been more wrong. I quickly gobbled up all the Gorkon works in short order, and am very much been looking forward to digging in to this new one.

Do I need to read the IKS Gorkon books to catch up on all the characters before I read A Burning House?

Thank you

^ God, I hope not. We're trying to attract more readers with the name change, so I endeavored to make it easy enough to jump in. The details you need are filled in over the course of the novel.

Thank you, dear. As soon as S&S releases it, it will be MINE!! :D

KRAD, I have all your Gorkon books. I'm looking forward to your new one. I love the Klingon oriented novels, and you are the best when it comes to that.

Keith,

I noticed there's an Ensign with my last name (spelled wrong but still). Wondering if it's just a coincedence or not. If not, I thank you.

It wasn't specifically a use of your last name, but a feeling that "Kline" made for a good Klingon name. I've known several Kleins in my time, and I was thinking of all of them, from a high-school history teacher to you, when I chose the name. :klingon:

^ I did like the bit where B'Oraq, in addition to trying to introduce advanced medicine to Klingon society, also introduces some Yiddish into the Klingon language.

I thought it was truely awful - large elements made no sense, there was no flow and it was impossible to suspend my disbelief...

oh wait that was my tax return!

As for the book, it was first rate - I've never been impressed with the modern Klingons because they always seem so one-dimensional as a race. Here we get full rounded characters who have a "inner life" and are compelling to read about.

I cannot recommend this book too highly. Hopefully we will get a follow-up.

I'll be picking up a copy tomorrow and will try to get around to reading Diplomatic Implausibility in the near future.

You know, if you're going to keep turning out these amazing reads, you could at least make them a bit longer, I swear I sailed through this latest outing of the series in less than two days.

Oh well, I'll live. Thanks again for another wonderful adventure that continues to illuminate the Klingon people as a "People" and not just the stereotypic race of mindless, honor-posing, barbarians many people think them to be.

Also, 'Grandmother Tabona' was my favorite new character. I'd love to see a scene (somehow/someway) between her and Nan Bacco. I'm sure there would be room at the table.

I started to read the book yesterday and I enjoy it very much indeed! I think KRAD did a very good job at giving a background of these people and past events of the Gorkon series. It was interesting and sometimes fun to read, not at all tedious or feeling like a boring "last time on..." essay.

Well, I am not far but Vall has been mentioned already more than once. I had to smile - I miss that guy! If I still could, I would add him to my list of favourite book-only characters!

Can`t wait to read more later today! :)
