A. Breitbart Is Dead

I don't "rejoice" in the death of anyone short of a Bin Laden or a mass murderer, but Breitbart was a total scumbag.

Just a thought prompted by this post (not in response to it).

Breitbart never killed anyone, but used his pulpit to spread lies and hate.
Bin Laden never killed anyone, but used his pulpit to spread lies and hate. Others did the dirty work.

Not equivalent, I'm not going to reapply Goodwin's Law to this guy, but similar. People rejoiced in the death of the latter, when it was just the final act in an enormous tragedy that some man who was born into a position of influence used it to bring pain and misery to thousands. Osama was a shameful waste of resources. Breitbart's sins weren't as great, but it is still a tragedy of waste and anger.

Rejoicing at the death of anyone is pretty low.

He was ridiculously young... it is sad whether you agreed with him in life, or not.

His death wasn't sad. I don't wish death on anyone (I do wish some people would get punched in the face more often), but I don't mourn this man either. We ARE better off without him. He was a bad influence on public discourse and should not in any way be elevated above what he was.

Refusal to mourn the hatemongers of this world is not "low". Nor is saying anything you would have said to his face while alive.

While I don't think that he deserved to die, I do believe that the world is better off without him.
