Spoilers A big hint about the finale/season 3 has dropped...

I’ve never heard of this site. I’m a little wary on these rumors because of that fact. But we shall see! It’s not the greatest idea in my opinion, but if it’s played out as a “we need to get back to our time” for season 3, I might be okay with that. I don’t know if I want multiple seasons in the 28th century.

Yeah, presuming the "lost in time" rumor is true, my guess is they'll stay there for at least the entire season. They may return home at the end of the third, but honestly if that happens and the Pike spinoff is real, it likely means an end to Discovery, with characters moving to Georgiou's show, Pike's show, or dropped entirely.

Wait, people think the show is going to *stay* in the far future?

Yeah, no.
Agreed, thinking it's a season long arc at the most. Possibly less. Think the MU arc from the first season.

Part of me likes the idea, it'll be interesting to see that century. However, another part of me would want a dedicated show for that century. Once you start writing about that century, it locks certain aspects in. We know what exists and doesn't exist. The general state of affairs, etc. Whatever they reveal is locked in. And, that's OK. But, I'd rather have it done because a series is set in that time period rather than one visiting that time period.

If a Pike series isn’t in the works, I may revolt. Anson Mount can do no wrong in my brain after last nights episode. And yeah, I’m imagining Yeoh will join the main cast for Disco season 3 and stay in the future for the Section 31.

They are going to get sent to the 28th century but its not going to be the 28th century we expect from what we know from Daniels and the Temporal Integrity Commission.

Its going to be war torn, Control waging war against a hardened Federation. Discovery and its crew being thrown into the 28th century is going to radically change the timeline. Unable to absorb the sphere data Control assimilates the galaxy ship by ship, planet by planet to build its forces. The Alpha and Beta Quadrants are in ruins, there was no Borg to drive forward Federation advancement. The Romulans are gone. The Klingons are either fighting alongside the Federation or have already been wiped out. Discovery has to find a way to return to the past to fix the future.

Whether this involves Calypso, Future Guy, and Control becoming Borg I don't know. But I really don't expect them to have Discovery end up in the peachy 28th century where archaeologists use time travel to study history.

All signs point to yes. Nothing is written in stone, but it what actually makes the most sense.

It makes sense that they would go there, but completely change the premise of the show? Based on what? That some people don't like prequels?

My sense was that the show diverted strongly from Fuller's era-skipping plan, and I don't see what may have convinced them to go back there. This feels like a conjecture being sold to people who want this to be an entirely different show.

Especially if they plan to return to the 23rd century. Hanging out in the "real" far future for a long time would pretty much preclude coming back and pretending nothing happened, I would think. You'd need to find a reason why they can't bring a bunch of tech and future-altering info with them. The easiest way would be to establish an apocalyptic future that won't exist.

Alternately, if they go to the trouble of creating the "real" 28th century, from designing ships and building sets, I could see the show staying there. It would solve the spore drive problem, anyway. So if the future is bombed-out and looks like a quarry, odds are good it's temporary, and if it looks like a reboot, it probably is.

I've watched enough 70's and 80's Doctor who to know that all worlds except earth look like a quarry.

I agree with you. And I could see from season 3 on Discovery being in its own reality, at least for some time. I wish they'd hop galaxies but barring that, some completely new circumstances would be appreciated.

Except I'm speculating about it too.

Not something I'd really be looking forward to, but I'm a TOS guy through and through.

It would have to really grab my interest for me to be as excited as I am now watching the second season.

I mean I will most likely watch it just cause ... "TREK".
:vulcan:

Time Travel shenanigans are not usually my thing.

Well, DSC, it's been a fun ride.

Well, I get the section 31 thing, but Picard...

Surely, not caring about that is... I dunno, illegal, or something :rommie:

Picard is my favorite character in all of Star Trek. I just think his story is done, and an 80 yo Picard is not going to be interesting. Maybe it will, I dunno.
