9th inning of Doctor Who DVD range begins

Rather than start a new thread, and since Day of the Daleks was mentioned above, TV Shows on DVD has released details of the North American DVD issue of Day of the Daleks:

Since the only difference between the UK and NA releases tend to be the cover art, what you see listed for extras, etc. is likely what you'll see on the UK release.

One key thing - which I haven't seen spelled out in reports about the UK release - is that the special edition with upgraded SFX, new Dalek voices, etc., is being included as a secondary feature. The original TV version is being included as well. I mention this because early reports about the Day of the Daleks special edition seemed to imply that only the "Who Remastered" version was being released, which would have gone against BBC Video/2 Entertain's admirable policy of giving viewers a choice of which version to see. (Having learned their lesson the hard way when they initially only made the special edition of The Five Doctors available on DVD.)

I'm not aware anyone ever said the original wouldn't be available. They said it wouldn't be a branched alternate angle/soundtrack option, that the new version would have its own disc.

There's going to be a special feature all about UNIT dating? Awesome.

In addtion to that, I'm looking forward to the "UNIT Family, Part II", which will most likely cover the organization's appearances at least up to Robot (part I of the documentary is on Inferno).

None of the original reports I saw gave any indication of that.

The more common report I saw was of this nature (except the words "will include" was often swapped out with "is"):

Given precedent - not to mention the spanking BBC Video got from fans over the Five Doctors Special Edition - I never expected this not to be the case. But it's still nice to have it confirmed.
