Anyone plan to watch the new TV series 90210? In case you haven't heard, it's a continuation of Beverly Hills, 90210 which ran for ten seasons on FOX. This show features an all new set of characters along with a few familiar faces from the original. 90210's start is also similar to the original's in that a family of four, which includes two teenage children, a boy and a girl no doubt, moves to Beverly Hills. The show starts off with a two-hour series premiere on September 2nd and will air Tuesday nights on CW.

As a fan of the original series, I plan to watch. I'm especially excited for two other reasons...

1) the show stars Canadian actress Shenae Grimes who I've been watching on other shows like Degrassi: The Next Generation where she plays an devout Christian, and Naturally, Sadie where she played the stuck-up popular girl. I never thought I'd see her heading up a 90210 spin-off.

...and 2) Shannen Doherty will be back for a few episodes as Brenda Walsh. Her character disappeared from Beverly Hills, 90210 at the end of the show's fourth season in 1994 after Doherty was let go. I had hoped to see the character again some day in a reunion show or whatever and now that day has come.

As for a few other points of interest...

- Jennie Garth who played Kelly on the original will also be back for a few episodes.

- Tori Spelling, who was slated to return, backed out but is still interested in being on the show in the future.

- Jason Priestly and Brian Austin Green are also open to appearing on the show.

- Luke Perry was asked to return but declined.

- You can read more about which actors from the original will or won't return here.

- Here's another article that might be of interest... CW's 90210 In Trouble

Yeah, we're there (the BF and me, to be specific). I have a bad feeling this is going to be a trainwreck, but it should be fun watching the CW sink this season with a marquee show.

The guy third from the right looks kinda cute. Laurie Laughlin is very hot. Hell, I ain't doing anything else tonight...

I can't wait to see the ratings for this show. It will get 3-4 million viewers and will be considered a massive hit by The CW.

Never watched the original, and the ad looks too much like the 'young SG-1' take in '200', all 'tood and fashion.

No, thanks. The original was campy enough. If I want to watch rich, white kids in Beverly Hills, I can watch the Hills.

so far the highlight is Jessica Walters... she's written nearly as well as her character on Arrested Development, Lucille Bluth... but it's the same basic role. i guess i enjoy seeing her character because my mind starts wandering to Arrested Development and i miss what is going on in 90210... man i miss Arrested Development.

Which I find funny, because the concept is pretty much the same. Take a popular teen's show from the past, and continue it with the "next generation" of teens. Though it's only been 8 years since BH: 90210 ended. Anyway, I'm checking this out, despite never seeing the original. I love Degrassi: TNG, though I don't have such high hopes for this. Just have a feeling.

Morbid curiosity and being a Rob Thomas fanboy got the best of me, so I watched the first hour only to have the second hour completely overshadowed by the 10 stars out of 5 House season finale rerun.

The first hour was pretty meh, but it wasn't as vomit-inducing as I thought it would be. And that would be a pretty high compliment indeed.

I don't think I'll be tuning in for future episodes though.

I have better things to do on Monday nights, than watch crap like this. It's the night it's being screened here in Australia.

I doubt I'll be watching. Nothing will touch the original. At its peak, no other teen soap was any where near it. I watched the original because it came out my 8th grade year and I was very curious as to what high school was going to be like.

Dylan McKay was my favorite and one of the most tragic characters ever. Father killed by a car bomb, finds out he has a little sister, gets scammed out of all his money getting his sister, wife accidentally killed by her father who killed Dylan's father, finds out later his father wasn't dead but had joined the witness protection program.

Ah the memories. :guffaw:

didn't watch, but it's on the tivo. Will check out the first one, kinda hoping for a decent OC replacement...

Ya know, if they wrapped a show around Tabitha, Debbie, Harry and the other adults, this might have been a whole lot more compelling. I liked seeing the adults get some stories, too, unlike the usual junk Jim and Cindy Walsh had to deal with.

The line about swapping stories about Harry's penis, though, was classic!
