Ah...I forgot about that part. Makes sense now...so maybe he doesn't know exactly what's going on, but he's suspicious. In any case, I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT EPISODE!!!!

I know, I know, I should calm down...sorry for yelling, everyone.
 
Finally saw it, very good ep, loved all the lines in the beginning, looking forward to the next one.
 
The old guy that ran than childrens home in Day of Moon kept thinking it was the year 1967 an not 1969. I still feel there is something to that.
 
I assume it was to indicate he had two years of missing memories, what with being surrounded by the Silence for all that time.

They also achieve sentience in bad weather. I think Amy's was a bit more sophisticated than the dawn of the technology, considering it managed to hold a connection across (and beyond) space and time. Never mind that the gangers had that pasty eye-thing, and the one managed to split herself in two and grow a super-arm and transform into the Dr. Lazarus creature, meaning they weren't married to the original template, so I think someone with just a bit of know-how and gumption would be able an un-pregnant ganger from a pregnant baseline.

I hate two week breaks I am watching it within the next hour. rewatching part one and then part two.
 
It's been bugging me since part 1. Those acid suits the gangers were wearing, they look like something from SG1 (movie or series), but I cannot, for the life of me, remember which race it was that wore them.

I wanna say goa'uld, but not sure that's right.

And the staffs they're carrying just add to the look.
 
Just saw it. Loved the open bits with the neutron flow and jellybabies, didn't entirely understand a lot of the episode, but liked it.

Reading people's comments on here has helped, so thanks.

I hadn't read any spoilers, so it was all just very confusing.
 
I'm afraid this entire two parter just felt like way too much wasted time to me for an unimportant premise. This would have been a decent one parter, but stretched over two episodes? Why? It was basically five people running around after five other people.

And I'm not sure how to feel about the cliffhanger. How long ago was she supposed to have been switched? And the character we've been with half a season is a fake? I'm not crazy about that...
 
It wasn't a fake, per se. The body was artificial, but the mind was 100% Amy.

I definitely agree that this probably didn't need to be stretched across two episodes, though.

Yeah, this episode did have an awful lot of running around and rehashed notions that made it feel like a dragged out single episode than a genuine two-parter.

I'll definitely want to watch it again since it was hard to keep up with a lot of that rapid-fire jabbering between the two Doctors at the beginning. I did catch Tom Baker's voice in the exchange, though it barely had time to register before I had to chase after the rest of the dialogue.

I managed to get through this week without being spoiled, so here's hoping this week will be as successful.
 
Very cool episode. I managed to stay spoiler free for a week. Let's see if I can do that again for A Good Man Goes to War. I gave it the second highest rating. I thought it was entertaining throughout. It didn't handle the sci fi concept as well as it could have, but it's a well-used concept anyway.

The ending was really surprising to me (which is why I'm glad I avoided spoilers). I know people are upset about the dissolving the ganger Amy, but is there any indication that the dissolving process with the screwdriver truly kills them? They mentioned the whole thing about memories being preserved and all. Also, it's clear that Amy's ganger is controlled by Amy herself (and that it was necessary to sever the connection so she could give birth). The level of sentience does not appear to be the same as those hit by the storm. Instead, it's a more minimal awareness of life and surroundings. It's possible the Doctor didn't kill his minimal sentience when he separated the connection. It's not like he destroyed her in acid.

Anyway, I'm going to try to avoid spoilers for another week, so have fun everyone.
 
So it was ganger-Doctor who threw Amy up against the wall, right? That's showing a pretty dark side of himself. Even though he was pretending to be the ganger at the time, I can't think of any other time when the Doctor has acted so violently towards one of his companions. A dark place, indeed.

Considering that he suspected that she was holding something back from him that was important I don't entirely blame him.
 
"Confidential" letter boxed some of the scenes and they looked MUCH BETTER. Almost like a movie.

Yeah, I know I'm late coming to this party.

Honestly, I was disappointed. Predictable and boring. Yes, I had already read spoilers about the twist ending, but I remained spoiler-free about everything else. And yet I knew Rory's girlfriend (Jennifer) was a Ganger and when the Doctor arranged a phone call from buddy's son, I knew the Gangers were going to have a change of heart.

And really, I found it rather confusing trying to figure out which Doctor was which, so that when they finally identified themselves at the end, my only reaction was relief at finally knowing which was the original and which was the Ganger.

Oh well, they can't all be masterpieces.
