The Doctor receives a distress signal from an old friend. Could there really be another living Time Lord out there? Hopes raised, he follows the signal to a junkyard planet sitting upon a mysterious asteroid in a Bubble universe, populated by a very strange family, as the time-travelling drama continues.

And an interesting photo

Apparently they were going to go through more past sets but it was too costly

Also we'll see the debut of the blue peter Tardis design

So is Neeron not doing it this week and where is the poll?

The poll is there. I have just had a few unexpected drains on my time this morning.

Many thanks to the Samurai for taking up the mantle of thread-starter today!

Interesting how they got around the not HD-readiness of the set by dimming all the lighting way down. Sort of the "Star Trek: Generations" philosophy, there.

there are lots of mini TARDIS's seen in this episode, it isnt the 10th Doctors TARDIS, its just that each one uses a differnt desktop theme

One of the best lines ever.

"Fear me, I've killed hundreds of Timelords."

"Fear me, I've killed all of them."

Loved it.

I voted Above Average, and like episode 2 so close to Excellent but just misses out. I loved seeing the Tardis as a person and the interaction with the Doctor was pricess, nod to Suranne Jones who was excellent ;)

It was nice seeing the 9th/10th console room again :)

I could see myself upgrading it to Excellent once I re-watch it.

Absolutely loved that - best episode of the Moffat/Smith era so far.

It had absolutely everything - hope this won't be the last Gaiman episode.

Suranne Jones was excellent - not an easy part to play and she completely pulled it off and matched Smith who was also brilliant.

Darvill and Gillan were also top notch particularly Darvill who had a lot more to do than the usual moon over Amy stuff.

Ah, that was great - Suranne Jones more than made up for being so shit in SJA by being so fantastic here!

Lots of lovely continuity nods made the whole thing feel lovely and comfortably familiar - which reminds me - hey, a living planet, I thought I was the only one knocking off the B7 episode Trial this year. Oh, and, look, when you put a TARDIS sentience in a human body it goes crazy and dies! Who'd have thought that?! Well, five years late...

The TARDIS corridors looked more like Liberator corridors to me, but what the hell. It did seem a bit of an easy con to get rid of House, so that stops it getting a full 10, but overall this kicks the crap out of the past three episodes. Best episode since Vincent And The Doctor and confirms a lot of what many of us have felt/observed about the Doctor/TARDIS relationship for years

Some holes though - most of all who was Idris at the start? I mean it's convenient there was one normal human body on the entire planet...

Arc speculation - "the only water in the forest is the river" has to be a reference to River's death(ish) in Forest Of The Dead. Is the Doctor going to undo that somehow, perhaps as part of preventing his own death? Or is he going to be "saved" in the library or ghosted?

9/10

As for next week... Hm, clones/avatars in armour that looks rather Sontaran-derived... But the line about needing the original to keep them stable matches the Zygon duplication process better. I wonder if either species will appear?

Really enjoyed that. Neil Gaiman should write more for DW.

I really wasn't expecting Suranne Jones to be the Tardis, but it worked amazingly.

Pretty much faultless episode.

I thought it was the Sontarans at first and with it being a 2 parter I wonder if they are coming back since you get a big bad in these episodes. Infact on the subject of 2 parters I think the next 4 episodes are back to back 2 parters.

best line in the episode: "Did you wish *really* hard?" I nearly fell off the sofa laughing at that one...

Neil Gaiman is writing this episode and everyone seems to be looking forward to it. Wasn't this the same guy who wrote one of the more controversial episodes of Babylon 5, Day of the Dead. Perhaps I'm just not as excited as others (And I'm not really all that familiar with him to have much of an impact) but I hope the episode is better than last week. Looking forward to it mainly because it's Doctor Who.

The first one I've (almost*) unreservedly loved since Moffat took over. Thank you Neil for understanding that the series needs more than pseudo-clever timey-wimey bollocks to be truly special.

*Rory dead again FFS.
