4th of July

Did my 4th of July celebrating on the 2nd. My parents came out to visit; we took a Mississippi Riverboat tour and went to a baseball game that concluded with a fireworks display.

Today, I plan to use my day off to have a Harry Potter marathon and play video games. :D

This all sounds very awesome. I'd love to do a riverboat tour in particular.

I always love this time of year because not only is it Independence Day, but it's Also my birthday weekend (Today, July 3rd, 27 years ago ;) ) so it's one big good time.

Unfortunately this year my mom has been in the hospital for the last week with Cellulitis in her left knee and a high fever. I hope she's able to come home tomorrow but I'll believe it when I see it. That has kind of put a damper on things though, as today was not really eventful. Of course on Friday I went to see Super 8 and Last night went to see a Baseball game and Fireworks show so that was fun, but I am concerned about my mom and hope she makes it through all the way.

:)

I hope you had a nice birthday and sending positive vibes to your mom. Hope she is doing well! :)

BTW, what did you think of Super 8?

I went out with the GF to watch some fireworks. When we got home again, we turned on the TV where they were showing the New York fireworks.

Amazing. New York put every fireworks show I have ever seen to shame.

It was probably my last 4th of July as an American (I currently have dual nationality). I plan on handing back my citizenship at some point over the next year. Not that I ever do anything to mark the 4th of July or even actually remember it most years, as I'm culturally British having lived in the UK for virtually all my life. But someone reminded me yesterday that it was Independence Day as I was writing the date on a form, and I must admit there was a flash of poignancy when I realised it was my last one as technically an American. Ho-hum...

She's out of the hospital so that's good. They want her to keep the leg elevated for a few more days but the swelling has gone down considerably. Thanks for the wishes on that and the birthday wishes. It was kind of uneventful this year but some years that just happens.

As for Super 8, I really liked it. It was a cross between ET and Jurassic Park, and while it seemed to be on a short budget, the story was great and the child actors were all really good. It reminded me of those sci fi movies you would see on in the afternoon, like Matinee or ET.
