49+ dead in plane crash in Buffalo NY

There isn't any articles yet, but it's on CNN and MSNBC. A 50 seat commuter jet crashed into a Buffalo house at 10:10pm yesterday. I would only assume by the pictures that people in the neighborhood were killed on top of that on the plane. :(

EDIT - 45 passengers, 4 crew and 1 on the ground.

That's good.

It also seems that it was a 74 seat plane, but it wasn't full. That's what the local station is saying.

Why can't they all be like the one that came safely down in the river? :(

That looks horrible. I hope nobody else was hurt or killed.

Not to be a pedantic tool, but technically that's not a commuter jet.

Yeah, that's about 30 miles from me. I stayed up til 1:30 watching the news coverage. 49 total dead, and the fire is still burning. I think it's miraculous that the plane only hit one house- the neighboring houses are pretty much untouched. There's nothing but coverage of this on the local news this morning. According to what I just saw, one of thje victims on the plane was a Buffalo resident who'd husband died on 9/11.

Here's an article from our CBS affiliate.

First thing I thought was about that plane that landed into the Hudson few weeks back. Sad.

They were interviewing 2 people whose connection was late. They missed the flight by 10 minutes. I can only imagine.

Morning folks. This morning has been a tough one for me. Last night, I lost a dear friend in that plane crash. He was a coworker and friend for almost 20 years. His office is right next to mine. My heart goes out to his wife and family. We traveled, worked, dined and shared many a beverage together. I will miss him.

In a sick twist of fate, I also knew the gentleman killed on the ground. I worked with him up until he left this company years ago. What's even more twisted, my friend and coworker killed on the plane knew and had at one time worked with the gentlemen killed on the ground.

To everyone out there in cyberspace ...... hug your children, kiss your partner, call a loved one, share a smile with a friend ... one never knows when your time is up ... make it count....

Whatever, commuter plane. Who the fuck cares?! 49-50 people are dead going 200MPH into the ground.

Luckily two people actually got out of the house, and they said if the plane didn't fall straight down the whole neighborhood could have been taken out.

Wow, I'm very sorry to hear about that. What are the odds of that happening? :(

That is awful. :( Sorry to hear that, Q2- and I can relate. You just never know... I woke up one morning three years ago to see on the news that a small plane was missing...and two hours later I found out that it had crashed, no survivors, and three of my mom's friends were on it. :( It was an awful day.

You have my thoughts and prayers as well, Q2. :(
