Oh wait, today is the day Atari unleashed the technological marvel, the coin-op game "Pong" into cheap and sleazy bars.

NOV. 29, 1972: PONG, A GAME ANY DRUNK CAN PLAY

H L Mencken should have lived longer to coin more quotes, since had "Grand Theft Auto" been unleashed instead because nobody accused Pong of being an accessory to murder. If nothing else.

Parents never sprung for any of that but I did spend hours and hours playing Pong, Breakout, etc on the display models at Sears. :techman::lol:

We got our first Pong game in about 1980, it was like touching the future, now i am sitting in Bridge Crew in vr on the bridge of the Enterprise, so i can't even attempt to imagine just what the next 50 years will bring, but remember to unthaw me so i can have a look.

This was the only in home game "system" we had.

I always wanted an Atari, would've taken a ColecoVision.

That looks quite interesting for its time, i bet the quality was second to none back in the day, they knew how to build stuff back then.

There are usually a few on eBay. I should give one a shot. I have a Namco unit, it's just a little box with a joystick, but it plays 4 classic games and the 2 RCA jacks go right in my HD TV. The Coleco thing connected to the 2 screw antenna on channel 3.

They look amazing for the time period, i had no idea stuff like that existed back then, and i thought the B&W pong machine we got in 1980 was the state of the art back then. lol

Holding the Atari joystick was an act of violence against your hand.
But it didn't case your thumb to become all crooked and sore like an Intellivision disk-controler.

Now the Bally Astrocade controllers were really nice. Perfect, really. They should still make them.

Got my start with the following..

I'm reminded of this computer game I had once called Carmageddon.

You literally got points for running over innocent bystanders...
