40 years of "Monty Python's Flying Circus"

I understand many of the alumni are doing a live, short stage adaptation of The Life of Brian called "Not the Messiah" in England next month. As of a few months ago, Cleese still hadn't agreed to perform with them, and Idle ribbed him mercilessly on Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson a few months back.

Love it, how about the 'Ministry of Silly Walks', that's a classic. My parents were not normalyy into this style of comedy but even they watched MP!

I love "Monty Python's Flying Circus". Some of the show's episodes weren't as good as others but when they were great they were absolutely amazing, I think. Plus I always felt they were simply 'out there' trying new stuff and seeing what would happen.

There are so many sketches I adore. Here's just a brief list of ones that come to mind in no particular order:

- Spanish Inquisition
- Upper-class twit of the year
- Deadliest joke
- Mr Hilter
- Michael Ellis (I think it was that one)
- Confuse the cat
- Killer cars

And many more I can't think of right now.

The beauty of the show itself is that sometimes it's the lesser well known sketches that people remember most fondly. I mean, yeah Lumberjack Song this and Dead Parrot that, but nowadays people want something witter. :bolian:

And one of my favourite of the lesser known sketches:

Yes, there are definitely a lot of lesser-known ones that terrific. I'm not sure how well it's known but I've always loved the one with the architect who's planned the housing estate with the 'rotating knives' :D. What's particularly funny about that one is how he lashes out at the clients (who are town officials, I think), claiming they don't like his design because they don't have a clue about art :D.

^^ I love the way they just decide to stop the sketch (and the show) because it doesn't make any sense. :rommie:

Bally Jerry pranged his kite right in the how's yer father! Hairy blighter, dicky birdied, feathered back on his Sammy, flipped over his Betty Harpers and caught his can in the Bertie!
