$35.5 Million more from overseas

Can I point out that according to boxofficemojo, that Titanic made about 28 mil on it's opening weekend, and has gone on to gross over 1.8 billion? That's One point Eight billion. Titanic was a horrible movie also. Worse than this new Trek movie. So there could be hope for this movie.

Optimism!

Its ok but its now 50/50 to make $100 million worldwide which is the target rumored set by paramount, I was really hoping for 50 million in OW. It means Trek needs to break $200 million even more importantly now.
But..... It did.

76.5 + 35.5 = $112 Million worldwide opening weekend.

I'd say 112 million is roughly twice as much as 50 million. Can anyone with a mathematics degree check this for me?:guffaw:

I think Jax meant the international take.

If that is the case then I apologize for the sarcasm. I still don't think 112 million is something to shake a finger at.

yes I was talking about the oversea's figures. Paramount wants to break $100 million desperatly.

They probably will, takings in the UK will end up at about £10m. Though saying that, the exchange rate isn't great atm so you have to take that into account really.

It's only made about two and a half mil since yesterday. My prediction is looking more and more correct as the days go by. This movie is a flop.

Quoted for complete lack of truth. Just cos you think it doesn't make it true. This movie has phenomenal word of mouth among the non-Trek fans I've spoken to.

I heard the movie didn't sell any tickets between 3:30am and 3:35am in Nome, Alaska when the movie theater was closed. FLOP!

You need to pay more attention dude, you are confusing the estimates and the actual numbers. It made $2.7 million more than the original estimates.

Don´t forget that Brazil, Mexico and Japan are big markets. Here in Brazil I am very optimist. There are many trekkers and brazillian people like action films.

I never expected it to do as well as wolverine, transformers, Iron Man etc. The star trek franchise prior to JJ Abrham even in it's glory days did not have the audience/popularity of those shows. It was never mainstream, the closet it came was during TNG but even then it never appealed to the masses in the way those products did. The invlovement of Abraham's has definitley increased star trek's profile but not to the level of those products. Pehaps the success of this film can be built upon and subsequent films may then be able to compete with those films.

I think it's doing well so far. Not better than expected, but what could be hoped for.

It cost 160 million to produce and God knows what to advertise. Some estimate that the advertising cost up to 100 million. It's only made 86 million of that back. Without counting for advertising, it's still 74 million dollars in debt. Add the unconfirmed estimate for the advertising and it's 174 million dollars in debt, which is more that the original production cost. Flop. Big fat flop.
