318 Corgis go to the Beach

Corgi Nation has organized a beach day for Corgis and 318 Corgis have attended. It is beyond adorable.

I used to have a corgi.. a wonderful breed of dog. They no longer dock their tales in Australia, haven't seen a docked one in a long time. I only ever think about getting a dog when I'm at the beach and see them having such a great time there, if I lived near the beach I'd need a dog just so it could enjoy itself.

Surely this is world record?

One of nicest dogs I ever meet was a corgi-blue heeler cross. I think he was a bit of an "accident". The rest of the puppies in the litter looked like normal blue heelers but there was a male corgi around at the time of conception. His body size and shape were like a corgi but he had blue heeler colour and markings.

You can get that blue merle coloring in a pure bred corgi too, it is a variety of Cardigan Corgis.

I am not really a dog lover. If I had a dog I would probably choose a whippet.

I think 318 corgis would be heavier. But lets see.

Average weight of a corgi (median of M and F corgis) 11kg.

Average weight of a Saint Bernard (median between broad range of the breed) 92kg.

318 Corgis would be on average 3498kg.

42 Saint Bernards would be on average 3864.

OMG! Those things are freaking HUGE! Clearly if you had to live off one breed you would get more for your money with a Saint Bernard. That said you could not pay me to own one.

I just read this

The old English sheepdog has been put on a watchlist of endangered dogs over fears it could face extinction.

The breed, used in advertisements for Dulux paint for more than 50 years, had just 316 of its puppies registered this year, the Kennel Club said.

The Pembroke Welsh Corgi, which is favoured by the Queen, the soft-coated wheaten terrier and the Welsh terrier are also on the “At Watch” list for breeds.

I wonder why the Pemboke Welsh Corgi had declined in popularity?

Ahhhh I love corgis! If I ever were to get a dog, it would be a top contender.

My mom has one. He is loud, willful, undisciplined, stupid, and just a general pest. But not really bad per se.

I wonder if the other one in the litter she was considering would have been any better.

Am I the only one that ever thinks: What if I picked the other one? I've picked out two dogs in my life, on piece of shit and one sweetheart. In one case, could I have prevented 12 years of being snapped at, having furniture shredded, and picking up poop all over the house. In the other, would I have missed out on a gentle, obedient, sensitive dog that sleeps next to me every night.

Now cats, I've had several shithead cats in my life and several completely mushy gorgeous ones. I enjoyed the shitheads just as much, they had character

Funnily enough, I just missed it, though I didn't even know it was going on. I was there walking my sister's two dogs (I was watching them while she was attending her boyfriend's father's funeral) the next day. They're not Corgis though, so there probably would have been a rumble. One's a Shih-Tzu/Cocker Spaniel mix (A Shit-Cock? A Cock-Tzu?) named Zoe and the other is a Chihuahua named Chester. The Cock-Tzu was really sweet but a handful to deal with. I've never seen a more excitable dog. Chester though, that little guy was chill. I wanted to keep him.

We couldn't keep the cats out with the bigger hyperactive dog around (plus, she growled at them when she first saw the cats), so we kept them upstairs during the day and then let them out at night while the dogs went upstairs. But I tried to see how they would deal with the Chihuahua. My cat Lily ran up the stairs like a little wuss even though she's twice his size, and my other cat Sierra just stayed up on her cat condo staring at him and hissing.

Of my three current cats, one is a shithead. He looks like a real nice cat

but he can be a real pain in the arse.
