News 3 wins for Star Trek Discovery at 45th Saturn Awards.

None of this feels legit. Rest easy though. I am going get top men on this. TOP MEN! Jason

Beat out The Expanse. That is special.

Congrats to SMG, Doug Jones, and DSC.

Agreed..."The Expanse" is a show I just discovered this past spring...and it is tremendous. Was "Man in the High Castle" on the list?

Expanse Season 3 and Discovery Season 2 were both so good that must have been a close decision.

Congrats

Expanse wasn't a streaming only show for S1-3. I guess the nomination basically proves that SyFy is a dead channel. They certainly love to cancel shows.

I would have given the nod to Russian Doll. It was different and enjoyable. DSC and the Expanse, while great shows, are both just another space scifi show. Was Good Omens even in contention? It isn't in the OP.

The Emmys have consistently given no respect to "hard" sci fi shows and have always given greater consideration to non-genre shows, at least with regard to the prestige awards. One of the things I like about the Saturn Awards is that they don't have a problem leaning in the direction of hard sci fi shows even with their prestige awards.

Last year (or maybe year before last), while the Emmys were lavishing awards on The Handmaid's Tale, DSC beat that show out for a Saturn and SMG beat out Elizabeth Moss for an individual acting award. Same for Seth MccFarland and The Orville for the broadcast side.

I kind of like that there is an awards show that has a bit of a bias toward space ship shows.
