24's 6th Season

Okay, so I know this aired a millennium ago, but I just have to say one thing...

If you're going to do an entire season plot about nuclear bombs, can't you at least teach your star how to pronounce NU-CLE-AR?!?!?

There. I feel much better having gotten that off my chest. Kiefer's "nuculars" were just getting on my nerves. :D

Hulu's been posting 24's 6th season bit by bit over the last couple weeks. I'm enjoying it. You know what I like best about 24? Spotting all the actors I've seen in other shows and trying to figure out where I've seen them before. I confess, I cheer "Julian!" every time I see Alexander Sidding on screen this season. ;)

LOL - no worries. 24 for me is dumb fun. I never followed the show. I've seen the first season because I found the dvds cheap as dirt at goodwill. I saw most of the second season in reruns before I saw the first season.

This season so far has one thing to recommend it - no Kim. ;)

While I never cried "Julian!", Siddig was definitely my favourite part of the season. His character, working with Jack, was so much fun.

Season Six really killed my interest in the show, it got to the point where if I missed an episode I didn't care (and I was obsessed with this show!). Still, I'm hopeful for S7! I just re-watched S5 for the first time since it aired and it reminded me why I used to love this show so much.

It's funny S5 was one huge mish-mash of recycled concepts but it somehow felt original and fresh. S6 on the other hand was even worse of a retread (Middle Eastern terrorists with nuclear bombs AGAIN?!?!).

What ethnicity are the S7 terrorists going to be? Please tell me it's NOT Middle Eastern. Or Mexican. Or Slavic. Or Russian.

I never thought there could be a worse season than four... until we got six.

I'm in the boat that I thought the show had nowhere to go but up after the horror that was Day 3 ... and then we got the last three years.

Guh.

Me too. That's is the only season of 24 I couldn't stomach. (Not because of Sid.)

I vote Eskimo.

I *loved* Season Three, it's my favorite season. I don't get everyone hates it. You had three completely different stories in one with a cool little middle chapter in Mexico. It's got the best collection of characters. It's got the best use of Stupid Kim. Jack actually had a partner which was cool. The villains were cool and weren't Islamic terrorists. They actually released the virus in LA and killed a bunch of people (remember this was the first major body count in the show). Jack was fighting a drug addiction. It showed the heroes actually being proactive for once, creating an elaborate sting operation to catch the baddies.

Not to mention Jack executing Chappelle and Nina. Best moments ever. :D "We have to get in the chopper now, Ryan." "Why?" "Just in case." :D "You don't have any more information for me, do you Nina?" "I do... I do..." "No you don't". BLAM BLAM BLAM!

Jack killing Chapelle is one of the show's patented shock value for the sake of shock.

Bad guy henchman: "Someone at CTU, who we somehow know is Ryan Chappelle, is digging into your papertrail and might find out you have a daughter who happens to be local."

Bad guy leader: "If we have him killed, there's no way anyone else at CTU would be able to do his simple job."

The Gael-Jack-Tony plan that they only they know about was also par for the 24 course.

Sky 2 in the UK and Ireland is currently showing all of Season 6 back to back all day, as a build up to Redemption (which is being aired on Monday - technically ahead of the USA, if I'm right). I'm dipping in and out of it. It did start of well, but I think it began to plunge around the time they revived the 'VP-plotting-coup-against-the-Pres' storyline from season 2.
