Yeah...the problem with making it "small-scale" is--in order to keep viewers interested, each season kinda had to top the last, in a way.
You get the idea. So I like the international angle--like the Die Hards, it's a great way to up the ante without looking ridiculous.
Season One: Assassination attempt
Season Two: A nuke--and an attempt to start a war.
Season Three: A super-virus plot, involving Mexican drug lords.
Season Four: A kidnapping AND a SUPER-nuke plot AND an assassination attempt AND a nuke. They REALLY pulled out all the stops with this one! Any wonder the next two seasons are "credited" with jumping the shark?
