'24' in development for feature film - writer hired

They could do it after season two so we could see them actually pursuing the people behind the Palmer poisoning (that was covered in the video game), but that would require bringing James Badge Dale back and I think I read that he hated his time on 24.

But they could easily set Jack's European adventures after season 4 where he's living under an alias and uncovers a threat, and the only people he can get help from are Tony, Michelle, Chloe and Palmer.

They will end up doing what they always do though with the movie taking place even more years into the future with wholesale cast changes that hurt rather than help.

Also, the concept of "prequel" with 24 isn't the same as with other franchises since the seasons are stand-alone and the show makes a lot of cast overhauls anyway.

^ I think it would be odd if Jack, pretending to be dead, left the US and then returned in time for S5. Plus you'd have to explain to the audience why he was using an alias, why only these people knew he was alive etc. Too much backstory for a 2 hour movie that has to appeal to the general public. Hell, even a lot of 24 fans may have forgotten this storyline.

I agree with your point about prequels to some extent but still, certain characters still have to survive the movie, Washington, LA or New York can't be destroyed, because we've seen them since, etc.

I also agree that the constant jumping into the future and cast changes are a bit annoying but I really don't think that going backwards (by over a decade in 24 time and over 5 years in real time) will help either.

Between seasons 2 and 3, wasn't jack working undercover in Mexico, and strung out on Heroin most of the time? He'd had time to run that whole op, and then come back and re-integrate himself for a short while as Season 3 started...

Moving along from when to set it, I suppose the next issue is where to set it. It's in Europe, we know. Paris has been done to death, with the 24-like Taken and the initials-sharing Jason Bourne's first movie (not to mention the forthcoming From Paris With Love).

When Keifer was on Jonathan Ross' chatshow some time ago, he said that the 24 movie would be made in the UK. I wonder if they'll set it across several cities in the UK and mainland Europe, with the gaps between the action allowing for Jack to get from A to B.

I'd actualy like to see somewhere in Spain personally. I can't think of too many films set over there.
