24: Day 8 Begins production today

Just a heads up for any interested parties. From Mania.com:

Casting continues for Fox's planned Day 8 of their franchise "24" but one has to wonder whether leading star Kiefer Sutherland will be there through out the production. Despite the actor's current legal troubles after a recent head-butting incident, HR reports that Jennifer Westfeldt and John Boyd are joining fellow newcomers Anil Kapoor and Chris Diamantopoulos for the eight season. Producers are filling nine major new roles with production slated to begin today.


Plot Concept: On the upcoming eighth season, to be set in New York, Kissing Jessica Stein star Westfeldt will play the recurring role of Meredith Reed, an ambitious journalist with ties to Arman Hashemi (Anil Kapoor), a Middle East leader who comes to the U.S. on a peacemaking mission. ]Boyd will be a regular on the new season playing CTU systems analyst Jonah Schwartz.
 
Is Annie Wersching (Renee Walker) back for this season? I assume she'll fill the gap if Sutherland is unavailable for some episodes.
 
^It didn't say so in the article, but I have heard from other people online that, yes, she will be back.
 
Oh Christ. Middle Eastern Terrorists AGAIN?????? Let me guess, it will eventually be revealed there's really a rich corporate white guy behind them.
 
Interesting--sounds like some cool casting! 24 was fun this past season--not as groundbreaking or quite as thrilling as it once was, but really solid. I'll definitely be tuning in for season eight--but unless season eight totally reinvents the wheel for 24, it might be good to end it there.

We don't know that yet. In fact I think I read somewhere that they wanted to do something different in season 8.

I think it is going to involve Right-Wing Militias, Civil up rising, anti-feds, separatists, kind of stuff. Maybe they are going to try and kill the Mid-east ambassador to stir up trouble?

What I would really like is a well planned out season. With one long story arc. None of the "Everything changes" every 4 hours crap like it has been for the last few seasons. I know that helps draw in new viewers since they can join up every 4 hours and not really need to know what happened before that, but it suck for those of us who want a full story.
 
She's back and apparently something from her past is central to the Season 8 storyline.

Yeah, CTU agents drag her out of a hearing into her torture of Wilson, and tell her that her good friend Tori Almadia is back from the dead and working for terrorists. Turns out Tori's looking for revenge against the people who killed her husband (who was pregnant with their child! :eek:).

You'd think there'd already be a bunch of uprisings and militia movements with all the crap that's happened to the USA over the years and how ineffective the government was at stopping the threats, instead of people shopping and playing tennis a few hours after a nuke goes off in LA.

In season eight, we're going to find out that Larry Moss is alive because Tony had "recruited" him to join Team Methos.
 
Season One: first 13 episodes was Ira Gaines blackmailing Jack to do stuff. Second half was the Drazen Family Show. Season Two: first @16 episodes were hunting Middle Eastern terrorists with a nuke. Second half was going after the white corporate military guys behind it.
 
Great idea, Larry can shave his head and started grunting like Tony.

I wouldn't mind one storyline although with the "Evil White Corporate Rich Guy Cabal" I wouldn't count on it. The initial storyline has to do with CTU attempting to stop the assassination of a Middle East leader during a high-level peace conference with President Taylor. So it's a callback to Season 1 in a way.

Maybe the Isralies will be the bad guys trying to kill the peace maker??
Just for a plot twist??
 
So how old will Jack Bauer be when they end the show? :p

Season 8!?! Sweet! I hope...oh, no, wait...I haven't watched since the middle of Season 5. Forget it.
