This whole "attack America so that we can protect it" angle has been done to death in 24. And movies/TV in general for that matter.

I'm thinking about the group of shadowy folks who were behind the bad things of the previous couple of seasons, going back to the Logan era. We've still never seen who all of those folks are... Hodges was presumably part of that bunch.
