I have the hull reflectivity (the roughness) still a bit too low.

Is there a particular reason you're using GIFs for all these pictures? Just a little surprised, since they're limited to 256 colors.

I guess I just thought they were smaller files and therefore faster to load on the screen. Bad enough that evermore stuff is being put onto websites that pages can take longer to load even as computers are faster. And they're not meant for being printed out anyway.
