I figured now would be a good time to start a 2020 releases thread, since we had one for 2018 and 2019 (granted, part of the reason both those were started were because of the book drought in 2018). It seemed a good place to have a conversation about future book releases.
What prompted me to start this thread was on Memory Alpha there is a listing for Voyager: To Lose the Earth for 10/2020. On Memory Beta it is still listed for 2019, however, I think that is unlikely at this point. 2020 seems more likely at this point, though October is pretty later in the year and it's likely the first season of Star Trek: Picard will be complete by that point. Not sure how much Picard will affect Voyager's ongoing storyline and it will be interesting to see if Beyer incorporates anything from the show into her book since she's involved with the show as well.
So far that's the only novel listed for 2020 on Memory Alpha. I figure we'll see original series and Discovery novels for 2020, and perhaps a few tie-ins to some of the other upcoming shows if they are in production by that point.
And maybe a TNG book? Will they continue to publish TNG books carrying on the relaunch storylines? Will there be some grand finale? Will there by some follow up novel(s) after Collateral Damage? What about Star Trek: Picard books (I still feel that name lacks imagination...really they couldn't come up with anything more creative than Star Trek: Picard....but I digress)?
Sadly, I believe we've seen the last DS9 and Enterprise novels. With all the new shows now, I just think those series will be squeezed out. Large parts of the DS9 stories will probably be overwritten by the new Picard show (as will Voyager but it sounds like we'll at least get To Lose the Earth). You could probably include Titan as well, though perhaps the new Picard novels may include new Titan stories not involving the relaunches. I'd still love to see new Enterprise: Rise of the Federation novels, and Enterprise is the one series not likely to be affected a whole lot by the new shows, esp. since thus far none are going back to that point in time. But I think there just won't be enough room for those.
Anyone hear anything else thus far? And what do others want to see?
