Over the next week we will be hearing about the pilots picked up at the various broadcast networks. Today, Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Fox has picked up four drama series and two comedies. Among the pick ups is comedy Making History and drama The Exorcist.

MAKING HISTORY (single camera)
STUDIO: 20th Century Fox TV
TEAM: Julius Sharpe (w, ep), Phil Lord (ep), Chris Miller (ep), Seth Cohen (ep), Jared Hess (d)
LOGLINE: Chronicles three friends from two different centuries as they try to balance the thrill of time travel with the mundane concerns of their present-day lives. Two shows in one, it’s both a rollicking historical adventure, and a contemporary comedy about love, friendship and trying to fit in to an increasingly complex and impersonal world.
CAST: Adam Pally, Leighton Meester, Yassir Lester

THE EXORCIST
STUDIO: 20th Century Fox TV/Morgan Creek Productions
TEAM: Jeremy Slater (w, ep), James Robinson (ep), David Robinson (ep), Barbara Wall (ep), Rolin Jones (ep), Rupert Wyatt (d)
LOGLINE: More than four decades after the Academy Award-nominated film solidified itself as the greatest horror movie ever made, The Exorcist returns in series format as a propulsive psychological thriller following two very different priests tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession.
CAST: Alfonso Herrera, Ben Daniels, Geena Davis, Brianne Howey, Hannah Kasulka, Kurt Egyiawan

While not the end of their pick ups, NBC has announced the have ordered two comedies, inculding the DC Universe comedy Powerless. NBC still has to announce their drama series, but this is a start.

POWERLESS (single camera)
STUDIO: Warner Bros TV
TEAM: Ben Queen (w, ep), Michael Patrick Jann (d, ep)
LOGLINE: In the first comedy series set in the universe of DC Comics, Vanessa Hudgens plays Emly, a spunky young insurance adjuster specializing in regular-people coverage against damage caused by the crime-fighting superheroes. It’s when she stands up to one of these larger-than-life figures (after an epic battle messes with her commute) that she accidentally becomes a cult “hero” in her own right … even if it’s just to her group of lovably quirky co-workers. Now, while she navigates her normal, everyday life against an explosive backdrop, Emily might just discover that being a hero doesn’t always require superpowers.
CAST: Vanessa Hudgens, Danny Pudi, Alan Tudyk, Christina Kirk

Some cast members I like in these pilots though I would've thought the whole exorcism thing had played itself out as late.

After The Last Man on Earth and The LEGO Movie Lord and Miller are a big draw for me on Making History. I like time travel stories a lot too, so that helps.
With the cast and DC Comics setting, Powerless is going to have to be pretty bad more me to not at least check out the pilot.
I'm not to sure on The Exorcist, that's one I'm going to wait and see what the reaction is before I decide if I want to check it out.

In more pilot news, The CW has picked up three dramas, including the series adaptation of Frequency, as well as picking up Supergirl from CBS.

FREQUENCY

In this reimagining of the New Line Cinema film, a female police detective in 2016 discovers she is able to speak via a ham radio with her estranged father (also a detective) who died in 1996. They forge a new relationship while working together on an unresolved murder case, but unintended consequences of the ‘butterfly effect’ wreak havoc in the present day.

Midnight, Texas sounds just like True Blood. In Texas.

Interesting that many of the shows seem based on film properties (or books that were previously adapted to movies).

The trailer for The Good Place is also up.

Looks like it could be fun to me. I'm a big fan of both Kristen Bell and Ted Danson, so that helps.
Timeless looks like it could be a fun time travel adventure.
